Name: Steven

Motivation: Steven is interested in finding programs that will
support his goals of developing his own game. He is interested in
employment opportunities after program completion. He wants to
understand the skill sets he will obtain while enrolled in the
program and how long it will take him to complete the program.

Scenario: Steven’s guidance counselor suggested checking out the
SDE program because it is known as the only fully comprehensive program in Maryland. Steven visited
the site expecting to find information about the program specifically courses, software that he’ll have
the opportunity to learn about and admission and degree requirements.

Descriptions, Program Overview, Student Work, Financial Aid

Behaviors: Steven clicks “Program Overview” and finds general information about the program. Then he
clicks on “course descriptions” where he sees a list of courses and their descriptions. Now he is curious
about what the projects are like so he clicks on “Student Work” and views portfolios of current students.
He decides he likes the program so he clicks on “Programs Requirements” where he finds information
about the number of credits required, elective course options, the schedule of classes and major and
degree breakdown.

Quotes: I’m really psyched about the prospect of making my own video games! It’ll be really cool to

of Baltimore that focuses on game design. She is ready to
transfer to a four year institution to obtain her bachelor’s
degree. She is curious what courses she has taken will
transfer, how many credits she will need to graduate, and if
there are any prerequisites that are required. She hopes to
find out about classes that will allow her to obtain
sustainable employment. Marcie is anxious to find an internship.

Scenario: Marcie visits the site to find the courses she needs to take in order to graduate in two years or
in a timely manner. She was hoping to find alumni profiles that highlight their work experience that
would shed light on her career path and find out about internship opportunities that would give her real
world experience.
