Note: Sanbei shelter-forest（三北防护林）is known as
China’s “Great Green Wall”. It is a “Great Green Wall”of tress,
millions of trees. China has built a new Great Green Wall across
the northern part, including Inner Mongdia, Shanxi, Hebei,
Beijing and Tianjin. The Great Green Wall also covers some of
the Northwest (Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia and Shanxi)
and the west part of the Northeast .(Liaoning, Jinlin and Hei
Longjiang) It includes(包括) 13 provinces, cities and
automomous region.(自治区) Its total area is 4,069,000 square
kilometers, which cover 42.4% of the land of China. The building
of the Great Green Wall will take 73 years.(1978—2050)
     This building(工程) will take so much time, so much
land ,so much money and so many people to build it. Why?

    350 years. In 1620, about half the USA was covered by forests. In
    1850, about a third was covered by forests. Today, the forests have
    almost gone. A lot of good land has gone with them, leaving only
    sand. Today, too many trees are still being cut down in the USA.
       China mustn’t copy the USA’s example. We must plant more to
