Dear Prospective Contestant,

Represent an Asian country! The 2011 Miss Asia pageant is a great way to
represent the country of your ethnic heritage and yourself. The pageant will be held
during the 31st annual Wichita Asian Festival, Saturday, October 29.

Contestants will be judged on three areas:
   Poise and personality
   Interview skills
   Talent performance

Contestants are required to attend two mandatory rehearsals at the Wichita Indo-
Chinese Center at 2502 E. Douglas on the following days and times:

      Wednesday, Oct. 12, 4 p.m.
    Wednesday, Oct. 19, 4 p.m.

Take a chance! Please fill out the attached application and submit it, along with a
headshot, to Mhaeh at marina_buan@cargill.com no later than September 12. If you
are selected, an email confirmation will be sent to your email address on September
17.

                               Miss Asia Contest
                                        31st Annual Asian Festival
                                             October 29, 2011
                                        Century II Convention Hall

General Requirements for the Miss Asia contestants are as follows:
  1.    One representative per country
  2.    Any female candidate of Asian ancestry (at least ¼ Asian)
  3.    Must be a Kansas resident (within a 50 mile radius of Wichita)
  4.    Must be between the ages of 16-26 years old
  5.    At least a high school student and must possess talent, charm and personality
  6.    Single, never been married and with no children
  7.    Good moral character

Judging and Scoring:
Judging will be based on the following categories (maximum 5.0 points for each
category):
   1.    Natural beauty, poise and personality
                  Contestants will introduce themselves on-stage while wearing her
                    country’s traditional attire. The introduction is limited to a
                    maximum of 3 minutes.
   2.    Interview skills
                  Contestants will be judged individually by the panel of judges after
                    the greeting on the day of the Asian Festival. There will not be an
                    on-stage interview.
                  Contestants will be interviewed for a total of 4 minutes.
   3.    Talent performance
                         Contestants will perform an on-stage talent of a maximum of
                    3 minutes.


      Scoring will be based on a five point scale to the tenth of a decimal point, i.e. 0.0
      is the lowest score and 5.0 is the highest score.

Please NOTE: Any talent performance is acceptable; however, more weight will
be given to a performance that represents the culture and society of the country
she is representing.
