the tool development.&LF;&LF;Our mailing list software is
outdated and frustrating. Mailing lists&LF;are the
bread & butter of collaborative software development.
It is my&LF;opinion that mailing list use should be
expanded, rather than replaced&LF;with
anything else; but new mailing list software might be
in order.&LF;Online forum systems,
are, in my opinion, a poor
substitute.&LF;&LF;CVS is an obsolete version control
system; we are beginning to use&LF;subversion in
Web Archiving but CDL ought to consider moving
all&LF;projects forward to subversion or another
version control system.&LF;&LF;Diva is difficult to use.
It has no versioning capabilities. I&LF;personally
would rather get or send a document in email than
diva. At&LF;least in email I am assured that it will
stick around (since I keep&LF;all my email), I
have the context for the document's
creation, I can&LF;search my email for
documents, I have basic versioning based on
the&LF;date the message was sent, and I
can send a document to somebody&LF;outside CDL
without a lot of hassle.&LF;&LF;We have been using
