If the above actions do not work, then follow these steps within Finder:

   1. Make sure you have quit Word or some other application/program that the attachment was

       created in.

   2. Save a Word document on your desktop.

   3. Click ONCE on the Word doc on your desktop. DON¹T double-click and open.

   4. Under File in the Finder top menu bar, choose Get Info. A drop-down menu will appear.

       Click on Open with:

   5. Another pull-down will appear, with Microsoft Word being one of the choices. Choose MS

       Word or another application.

   6. Below that will be text which says Use this application to open all documents like this. Click

on the Change All button below that.

   7. That should fix it!

   8. Now, do exactly the same thing with an Adobe *.pdf file on your desktop.

   9. Same exact steps should get you there. You may find that you have to do this with Excel,

PowerPoint, and other programs/applications as well. ..

If, after the above steps, you still cannot open attachments in Entourage, then reinstall Office

2004 Entourage. For many users, that resolves the problem of not opening attachments.

An alternative approach to fixing this Entourage bug is as follows:

   1. Make sure you have quit Word or some other application/program that the attachment was

       created in.

   2. Save a Word document on your desktop.

   3. Click ONCE on the Word doc on your desktop. DON¹T double-click and open.

   4. Under File in the Finder top menu bar, choose Open With. From the side menu that

       displays, choose Other.

   5. Next to the label Enable, select All Applications. From the left pane, select your most

current version of MS Office (e.g., Office 2004). From the right pane, select the program in

which you are seeking to open an attachment (the same program that the document you

       have highlight on your desktop).

   6. In the bottom left-hand corner, place a check in the Check Box entitled Always Open With.

   7. Click the Open button in the right hand, lower corner of the window.

If the above works, you have now fixed the Entourage bug that prevented you from opening
attachments. Follow the same instructions for all other types of attachments that you receive (e.g.,:
Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Reader, etc.).

If the open solutions do not work, then try the options on the following pages.

Option 1:
  1. If you have these kind of issues you can first try deleting the preferences file associated
with any particular application; these files can be found under <Hard disk>/Home
       folder/Library/Preferences
   2. For example: Preview application’s preference file would be named as
com.apple.preview.plist and all Microsoft applications related preferences will be stored
       under
<Hard disk>/Home folder/Library/Preferences/Microsoft. If this doesn’t help then you can
       try below troubleshooting.

Option 2:
  1) Configure an IMAP account in Entourage & try opening the same attachment.
   2) Try rebuilding the Entourage Database. Please follow the steps suggested in the following
       link for the same.

Option 3:
Create a new Mac user with Admin privileges and configure Entourage as an Exchange account.
Also, create a new Mac identity in Entourage (Try opening the attachments such as *.pdf, *.doc,
etc. on this account. (This will eliminate any user related issues on Mac.) Reconfigured the
Exchange account in the new identity and after synchronization you will be successful in opening
attachments both from new and old mails
