Objectives of the Conference:
- Trying to monitor Media treatments, trends, and role in the issues of
political, economic, cultural, media, and social reform.

- Highlight the reality, issues, and problems of underdevelopment in
the Arab societies, and the relationship between the media and
these problems in order to come up with an integrated plan for a
better use for the media in the reform process.

-Enable the largest possible number of Communication Professors
and researchers who are interested in media and reform issues to
come together and interact either with each other or with media
practitioners in order to achieve coordination and integration in
the reform efforts.

- Identify the most important challenges facing the media in the area
of political reform in the Arab societies.

-Offer a future vision on how to activate the role of traditional and
new media in the course of the reform programs in the Arab
countries.

Theme One: Media Reform

1- The restructuring of media institutions.
2 - The privatization of media institutions.
3 - Media Production problems in the era of globalization.
4 – The Internet and issues of freedom of expression.
5 – Use media preparation and training to keep up with the latest
developments in information and communication technology.
6 - Modern methods in Management of media institutions.
Theme Two: The Integration between Mass and Interpersonal
Communication in reinforcing the Reform Process:
1 - The role of the institutions and direct communication channels in
reinforcing the reform atmosphere.
2 - Societal obstacles to reform and the role of direct communication
channels to change them.

Theme Three: Media and Cultural Reform
1 – Media and the renewal of religious discourse.
2 – Media and exotic cultures.
3 - Media and cultural legacies.
4 – Media and the culture of dialogue.
5 - Media and issues of the change of the values system.

Theme Four:- Media and Political Reform
1 - Media and political pluralism.
2 - Media and human rights.

Conference Subscription Fees:-

(500) Egyptian pounds for Egyptians.
(300) dollars for Egyptians who work abroad.
(400) dollars for non-Egyptians.

Deadlines for abstracts and research papers submission to the
secretariat of the conference: -
===========================

- Deadline for receiving the abstracts is February 1st, 2009.
- Deadline for receiving research paper is April 1st, 2009.

Papers Submission Requirements:
         =====================
 1- The paper Must not exceed (30) pages of the volume of Alkuarto.
2 – Submit two hard copies from your typed research paper.
Researcher’s Name and address should be written in a separate
cover page. References should be cited using numbers in the body of
the paper, and listed at the end of the research in a reference list-
references should not written as footnotes. Also, submit 2 softcopies
from your research in two CDs. The paper should be written with
“Simplified Arabic font”, font size 14, and page-size should be "12 ×
19 cm".
3- The researcher should send an abstract of the research written in
both English and Arabic languages. The abstract should not be more
than three pages and should include: Researcher’s name, research
title, the problem of the research and its importance, the study sample,
methods of data collection ,and the most important findings and
recommendations.
