Ms. Joan W. Stein serves as the President and CEO of Accessibility
Development Associates, Inc. (ADA, Inc.), a Pittsburgh-based consulting firm
that provides a wide range of ADA consulting services to public organizations
and private businesses across the United States. In 1992, Ms. Stein created
ADA, Inc. and has served as its founding President and CEO.

Ms. Stein has developed and performed the company's Customer Service
Sensitivity Training Programs. She heads the company’s human resource,
policy development, event and convention planning and other related
consulting services. Ms. Stein has spent the past several years developing
and refining customized training programs for a wide variety of the
company's clients.

Ms. Stein also provides ADA Title I services to clients and most recently
completed a case with the New Orleans District Office of the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission, which was successfully litigated in

She is sought out as a public speaker on the subject of the Americans with
Disabilities Act and has presented programs to more than 300 professional,
civic and service organizations across the country.

She writes extensively on the ADA for local, regional and national trade
publications including Building Operating Management Magazine,
Maintenance Solutions Magazine and Chainstore Age Magazine, Today’s
Facility Manager Magazine and Fairs & Expos Magazine.

Ms. Stein is on the faculty of Lorman Education Services, where she teaches a
full day ADA seminar for attorneys, design professionals and insurance
professionals across the United States. These seminars are approved for
CEU’s and CLE’s for design, legal and insurance professionals.

In 2004, Ms. Stein was invited to be a presenter at the National Association
of ADA Coordinators (NAADAC) Conferences, alongside senior staff of the US
Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division and the US Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission. Ms. Stein is the first private ADA consultant to be
invited as a presenter to this audience.

Ms. Stein has also done training seminars and presentations to a wide range
of governmental entities including the Local Government Academy, the
Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs, and The Pennsylvania
Association of Public Works. She has presented customized training
seminars for the staff of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the
Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, and Bureau of Managed Care
Operations and presented a tailored seminar to the ADA Committee of the
Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

Ms. Stein is a member of the International Association of Emergency
Managers and serves on the Special Needs Committee. She presents
programs on Emergency Preparedness for Individuals with Disabilities for a
wide range of audiences nationally, including IFMA – Pgh , NFM&T
Conference, TFM Conference, The Spirit of Recovery Conference in New
Orleans, and presented “From Design to Rescue” at the National AIA
Convention in Los Angeles, CA in 2006.

Ms. Stein was the ADA consultant to the New Orleans District Office of the
EEOC in the case of EEOC v. DuPont, where she was deemed an expert in the
ADA and emergency evacuation by the Federal Court – Fifth Circuit.

In August, 2006, Ms. Stein was appointed to the Pennsylvania Governor’s
Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities.
