through the combined efforts of each member of our community that our
children do learn and grow. Parent, families, teachers, school officers,
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS parish, P&F, School Board and volunteers. Thank you for a great Term

6. DROP OFF ZONE
Our drop off zone operates before school in the front carpark. As the zone is not very long, it is important that you drive
right to the very end near the church, before stopping for your children to alight. Traffic backs up into Sparkes Road if
parents stop too early. Consideration for others is a must when using this zone in the morning.
7. CHOCOLATE DRIVE
There appears to have been some confusion with reminder letters sent home to some families who had previously
returned their chocolate money. I apologise for any distress such a letter may have caused to these families. The P&F
Fundraising Coordinator is unavailable this week and I will meet with him at the beginning of Term 3 to sort out this
As this means that these children did not receive a raffle ticket for the entry into the final prize draw, I will speak with the

NEWS FROM THE A.P.R.E.
Congratulations to everyone for making it through this busy and long term. When you look back and think about the
many and varied occasions we have had this term – Masses and Sacred Times, sports days, NAPLAN testing,
excursions and we even managed quality teaching and learning. Teachers have been busy in last few weeks assessing
and reporting each child in their class and these reports will be sent home in the first week of next term.
Tomorrow Year 6 will host 9.00am Mass. All parents are warmly welcome to join us for this special celebration and join
us for morning tea. Year 2BK will lead Assembly on Friday morning.
As we wind down for the end of term, I wish everyone a very restful and relaxing holiday. Take time to re-energize and
connect with those you love, and hopefully, some sleep-ins on these cold mornings.
Peace and best wishes

NEWS FROM THE RESOURCE CENTRE
This is the last call for any overdue books or home readers to be sent back to the library. We don’t allow borrowing over
these holidays as we like to do a mid-year stock take. Notes with amounts owing are being sent home today. We ask
that you attend to this matter as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience and support this term with all the
building constraints and the impact it has had on library borrowing. Everything will be back to normal next term. Parents,
please remember the Parent Reference section of the library.
We hope you all enjoy a relaxing and fun-filled holiday. See you next term! Library Staff

PEACE GARDEN NEWS
What a wonderful addition we now have in the Peace Garden. Prep 2 children were helped by Mrs Clarke (mother of
Liam) to make the new scarecrow. The students brainstormed how to make one, what was needed, what items of
clothing he would wear and how to actually put the pieces together. All children had a part to play in the making of the
scarecrow and delighted in the finished product. Jancy, Jai, Jack and Sam think their new friend is just the best (and so
do the vegetables and herbs too). Additional whirligigs are helping to keep the birds at bay and bring a sense of life and
movement to the garden.
What is growing at the moment?
Vegetables – cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes, snow peas, borlotti beans, zucchini and celery.
Herbs – Italian parsley, thyme, basil, onion chives, rosemary, lavender.
What jobs do the Gardening Club children enjoy?
Watering, weeding, mulching, attending to the worm farm, collecting worm wee for fertilizing, harvesting foods,
relationship building with the tuckshop helpers, keeping the shed clean and tidy, reading the whiteboard with list of jobs
to do. The best thing though is talking to other children, sitting on the benches and enjoying the green space we have.
To Mrs Davenport for helping once a week and sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with the children.
Do you live close to the school? Would you have a little time over the holidays to come and water the garden for us? If
you can help at all, please contact the office and leave your details. We will be in touch with you. Many thanks for your
We look forward to a rich harvest and new crops and plants to care for.
