The Oath of the Vayuputras, is the third and final part in the Shiva Trilogy of books that have been written by the Indian author Amish Tripathi. This third part has not yet been released but I thought of doing a brief preview of the book and capture my thoughts as to what all can happen in the final part and what twists and turns, that we the reader can expect.
The first part of the Shiva Trilogy was The Immortals of Meluha that was published in mid 2010 and received quite a few rave reviews on the plot and storyline. There were some who were a little critical of the type of language that Amish used in the book but with his second offering of the trilogy, The Secret of the Nagas, Amish managed to silence his critics. That book was released in 2011 and was a huge success and now all his fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the third and final installment in the Shiva Trilogy, The Oath of the Vayuputras. At the end of the second book, we saw that Shiva and his army had aligned themselves with the Naga warriors after finding that the Nagas were not the evil people that everyone made them out to be. Shiva is also reunited with his friend Brahaspati, whom he had feared dead. Now the question in everyone’s mind is that if the Nagas were not the evil people, then who is behind all the evil and destruction that has plagued the land of Meluha. In my opinion, this is what will form the main crux of the third book in which Shiva will have to find the true source of evil in Meluha and find a way to destroy that evil forever. The Oath of the Vayuputras will also explore the connection between the king of Meluha and the mysterious temple priests. As was with the first two books, Amish will once again intersperse history and mythology to form the main storyline in The Oath of the Vayuputras. Shiva will have the biggest role to play in this final chapter as he culminates his journey towards becoming the lord of the lords. We might also see some new characters being introduced to compliment the main ones and I personally hope, the author introduces a comical character as well. Already there is quite a buzz online surrounding the release date of The Oath of the Vayuputras but till now no date has been finalized. I’m pretty sure that this book will easily top all bestseller lists once it releases given the huge hype surrounding the book.
