RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Championship Date Saturday, July 15th , 2006
    9.30am – 6:00pm (Registration by 8.30am)

2. Venue:
CENTENARY SPORTS CENTRE THE SOUTHPORT SCHOOLWINCHESTER ST,
SOUTHPORT, QLD

3. Competitors Qualification For Entry:
(1) Open to all members of AKWF organizations.
(2) Competitor must submit the required enrolment form and pay the designated fees (refer to
Championship Fees and Registration)

4. Championship Event Categories and Divisions

    (1) Kung-fu
Traditional Bare Hand:
1. Baguazhang, Xingyiquan and Bajiquan
2. Tong Bi, Piguaquan and Fanziquan
3. Ditang and Zuiquan (Drunken fist)
4. Cha, Hua, Pao, Hong, Chang Quan, Zha
5. Hung Gar Choy Li Fut, Jow Gar, Mok Gar, Li Gar, Hung Fut

(4) Duel Events: (minimum 2 participants and Maximum of 3)
Choreographed sparring sets Bare Hand to Bare Hand, Apparatus to Apparatus and
Bare Hand to Apparatus.

(5) Group Events: (minimum 6 participants)
Group performance of Bare Hand, Apparatus, or Bare Hand & Apparatus).
Note: All events will be conducted on a hard floor. Please consider this when
selecting the events you wish to compete in. All athletes will be competing on the same
surface and this will be taken into account by the judges.

5. Participation Methods
(1) Each participating athlete may enter at most three (3) individual events Kung-fu & Wu-shu 1
(one) Bare Hand + 2 (two) Weapons 1 (one) duel event and 1 (one) group event - for a
maximum of 5 (five) events.
Tai Chi 2 (two) Bare Hand + 1 (one) Weapon. 1 (one) duel event and 1 (one) group event - for a
maximum of 5 (five) events.

(2) Each participant may enter only for one (1) duel event. Duel event is limited to 2-3
persons. Male and female athletes may not be mixed. A competitor may assist another
competitor in a dual event, once only per event. However, in this case, the competitor must
nominate on their entry form which of the two entries is their major entry to this event.

(3) Each participant may enter only for one (1) group event. In group events teams shall consist
of no less than 6 persons and no more than 10.

6. Relevant Requirements
(1) The competition will adopt the “Rules for International Taolu Competition” endorsed by the
IWUF in 1999. These Rules can be obtained at www.akwf.com

(2) Time Limit:
Kung-fu Traditional Events:
Bare Hand and Apparatus: Not less than 1 minute no more than 6minutes.
Junior and Youth Barehand & Apparatus: no less than 50 Seconds

Wushu Events:
Chang Quan (Long fist) & Nan Quan (Southern Fist) and Apparatus:
Not less than 1 minute and 20 seconds. (Difficulty or optional movements will not be awarded
extra points)

Tai Chi Events:
1. Bare Hand 24 Forms not less than 4 and not more than 5 minutes. Warning bell given at 4th
minute in both forms
2. All other Bare Hand routines: no less than 3 and no more than 6 minutes
3. All Standardized Bare Hand routines: not less than 5 and not more than 6
   minutes. Warning bell given at 5th minute.
4. Sword: Not less than 3 and not more than 4 minutes. Warning bell
   given at 3rd minute.
5. All other Apparatus routines: Not less than 1 and not more than 4
   minutes. Warning bell given at 1st minute.

Duel Events: not less than 50 seconds.

Group Events: not less than 3 minutes.

7. Placing and Awards for Divisions:
(1)
   i. Junior (to under 14Yrs), Male and female, athletes are awarded separately.
  ii. Youth (14 to under 18 yrs), Male and Female, athletes are awarded separately.
 iii.    Advanced, Male and Female, athletes are awarded separately.
 iv.     Over 45, Male and Female, athletes are awarded separately.
  v. A medal will be presented to all athletes in the Taolu Optional Routines for
        demonstration only.

(2) The top three places of each division will be awarded except Taolu Optional Routines:

    1st Prize - Gold Medal
    2nd Prize - Silver Medal
    3rd Prize - Bronze Medal

Note: If there are only three (3) competitors or less in a division, only one medal will be
Awarded in Advanced and over 45. All Junior and Youth divisions will receive Gold, Silver and
Bronze where applicable. A competitor may enter only in 1 (one) Division (Junior, Youth,
Advanced, Over 45).

Queensland State Titles:

Queensland State Kung-fu Traditional Champion, Male & Female – Junior, Youth, Advanced &
Over 45 – 1 trophy per division

Queensland State Wushu Contemporary Champion, Male & Female – Junior, Youth, Advanced
& Over 45 – 1 trophy per division
Queensland State Tai Chi Champion, Male & Female Junior, Youth, Advanced & Over 45 – 1
trophy per division

State Titles – eligibility:

   1. For State Kung-fu Champions Traditional Styles, an athlete must enter at least 3
      individual events (at least 1 (one) Bare Hand routine and 2 (two) Apparatus routines
      from Short, Long, Single, Double and Flexible Apparatus). There shall be no repetition
      entry for the same kind of Bare Hand or apparatus routine. The award ‘State Kung-fu
      Champion’ will be given to the athlete that has the highest sum of scores in their three
      (3) individual events.

   2. For State Wushu Champions an athlete must enter at least 3 individual events (at least
      one (1) Bare hand routine and two (2) apparatus routines from Jianshu (Straight Sword),
      Daoshu (Broadsword), Qiangshu (Spear), Gunshu (Cudgel), Nandao (Southern
      Broadsword), Nangun (Southern Cudgel). There shall be no repetition entry for the same
      kind of Bare Hand or apparatus routine. The award ‘State Wushu Champion’ will be
      given to the athlete that has the highest sum of scores in their three (3) individual events.

   3. For State Tai Chi Champions, an athlete must enter at least 3 individual events (at least 2
      (two) Bare Hand routine, and either 1 (one) short or long apparatus routine). The award
      ‘State Tai Chi Champion’ will be given to the athlete that has the highest sum of scores
      in their three (3) individual events.

Tie-breaks will be resolved as per IWUF 1999 “Rule s for International Taolu
Competition”.

Appeals Jury: All teams (clubs) prior to the competition shall nominate a ‘Team Manager’ and
advise the competition organizing committee. This nominee shall be the only reprehensive of
that team or club to liaise with and/or lodge appeal with the Chief judge.

Following Prize Giving and Immediately prior to the competition being officially declared
closed it should be announced, “Any appeal must be made now”. Any appeal shall be in writing
and on the official form provided setting out the reason for the appeal; the competitors involved,
and be accompanied by a fee of $100. This fee will be returned if the appeal is upheld.

The appeal must be made on the day of competition and must be adjudicated by the Appeal
Committee. The Official Competition Referee shall immediately notify the team manager of any
other competitor named in the appeal and the team manager shall notify the competitor and the
basis of the appeal. All appeals must be adjudicated on the same day as competition.

If an appeal is upheld, then official positions that may affect competitors shall be advised
through the Team Managers who must remain available until the appeal is completed. Any
change of position that will incur medals or trophies to be returned will be the responsibility of
the Team Managers. The Official Competition Referee in conjunction with the Competition
organizer may only change records of the competition. The finding of the appeal by the
Appeal Committee will be final.

The Appeals Committee will accept no appeal after the competition being declared closed.

Competitor must submit the required Entry & signed Waiver Forms together with the
Championship fees to:

Note: Please make your cheque or money order payable to “AKWF Qld Branch”.
Closing date for registration is Friday, May 26, 2006. No late entries will be accepted.

Refunds only issued in special cases and will be subject to administration costs as decided by the
AKWF Queensland Branch committee.

10. Competitors Costume, Uniform and Foot Wear
Appropriate Kung-Fu Costume, Wu-shu: short or no sleeves Chinese top, bloomer pants, ladies
short sleeves, Tai Chi: Jacket, Chinese standup collar, long sleeve double button at the wrist,
seven button down the front, bloomer pants. If competitor has no uniform a T-shirt and track
pants may be worn. Martial arts style athletic or any rubber-soled sports shoes/sneakers must be
worn (performance with bare feet is not allowed). No distinguishing name and/or logo of any
school and/or organization will be permitted. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a
penalty of 1 full point deduction from final score in each event the competitor dose not
comply in.

11. Championship Judging

Each school is encouraged to nominate 1-2 judges or officials. If the requisite number of judges
cannot be met, the organizer will choose the remaining judges. All judges must have at least 5
years experience in Kung-fu, Wu-shu or Tai Chi practice.
All nominated judges and officials are required to attend a pre-Championship meeting of
minimum 2 hour before the Championships on the day prior to competition.

AKWF Competition Officiating Seminar:
Each school is invited to send potential competition officials (judges, timekeepers, etc.) to the
AKWF Competition Officiating Seminar, which will be held on Friday July 14th at the
Competition venue. More information will be available at a later date.

          DECLARATION OF UNDERSTANDING & WAIVER OF LIABILITY

shu Federation Queensland Championship Titles.

I understand and acknowledge that the Championship event involves some degree of risk of
personal injury. I warrant that I am medically sound and hereby assume all risk of physical and
mental injuries, disabilities and losses which may result from or in connection with my
participation in the 2005 Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland Championship
Titles.

Acting for myself, heirs, personal officers, agents, representatives and assignees, I do hereby
release the Australian Kung Fu (Wushu) Federation Ltd., the 2006 Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu
Federation Queensland Championship Titles, its officers, agents, representatives, volunteers, and
other related members from all claims, actions, suits, and demands of every kind in of or
resulting from any accident, injury or damage (including but not limited to the participant’s
person, whether fatal or otherwise, property and personal belongings) that I may sustain while
participating in the 2006 Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland Championship
Titles.

I fully understand that all medical attention or treatment afforded to me by the Australian Kung
Fu (Wushu) Federation Ltd., 2006 Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland
Championship Titles, its officers, representatives, volunteers, and all other related members will
be of the first aid only, and hereby release the Australian Kung Fu (Wushu) Federation Ltd., the
2006 Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland Championship Titles, its officers,
representatives, volunteers, and all other related members from any liability for administering
such aid.

I agree to abide by and follow the Championship Rules and Regulations established by the
AKWF and the 2006 Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland Championship Titles
Organising Committee.

I agree that my performance, attendance, and participation at the 2006 Australian Kung-fu/Wu-
shu Federation Queensland Championship Titles may be filmed or otherwise recorded or
released. I consent to the use by the Australian Kung Fu (Wushu) Federation Ltd and Australian
Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland of my name, address, voices, poses, pictures and
biographical data in full or in part, in any form or language, with or without other material,
throughout the world, without limitation, for television, radio, video, theatrical medium picture,
or any other medium by any devices now known or hereafter devised and I do hereby Waive any
compensation in regard thereof as well as any future rights to the aforementioned.

                              WAIVER/INDEMNITY
Exclusion of Certain Rights to Sue
(Section 97A Goods Act 1958 and Goods (recreational services) Regulations 2003
About This Form
Under sections 91 and 92 of the Goods Act 1958, several conditions are implied into contracts
for the sale of certain goods and services. These conditions mean that the provider named below
is required to ensure that the recreational services it engages in with you are:
- rendered with due care and skill; and
- as fit for the purpose for which they are commonly provided as it is reasonable to expect in the
circumstances; and
- reasonably fit for any particular purpose or might reasonably be expected to achieve any result
you have made known to the provider.
If you sign this form, you waive your rights under sections 91 and 92 of the Goods Act 1958 to
sue the provider for losses relating to death or personal injury if the provider’s breach of these
requirements results in your death or your personal injury. Signing this form does not affect any
rights that you may have under other sections of the Goods Act 1958 or any other Acts or laws.
You should be aware that signing this form may have an effect on any insurance policy that
covers you for death or personal injury. If you have any concerns about the effect of signing this
form you should discuss this with your insurer or legal adviser.

In consideration of my acceptance to participate in the 2005 Kung-fu, Wu-shu &Tai Chi
Queensland State Titles
On the understanding that all steps have been taken by the Australian Kung Fu (Wushu)
Federation Ltd and Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland. to avoid the danger of
death or personal injury by complying with the Risk Management Policy of the MAIA, Code of
Practice for Martial Arts Event Promoters and Tournament Organisers of the MAIA and the
Wushu Competition/Event Sanctioning Prerequisites formulated by the AKWF.
I hereby for my self, my executors or my administrators I acknowledge that there is risk
involved in taking part in the 2006 Kung-fu, Wu-shu & Tai Chi Queensland State Titles and I
waive any right which I may otherwise in the future acquire to recover from Australian Kung Fu
(Wushu) Federation Ltd. and Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland, its servants or
agents damages for death or injury to my person or property occasioned in the course of my
participation in the Championships.
AND I UNDERTAKE that I will at all times in the future indemnify the Australian Kung Fu
(Wushu) Federation Ltd., and Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland, its servants
and agents and keep each of them indemnified against all suits actions and causes of action and
other claims and proceedings of whatsoever nature which might be taken against any of them
by me or any persons claiming through me or on my behalf in respect of or arising out of any
death or injury to my person or property as is aforesaid.

Further, by signing this form I understand I waive my rights to sue the Australian Kung Fu
(Wushu) Federation Ltd., and Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland for losses
relating to my death or my personal injury that results from a breach of a condition specified in
sections 91 and 92 of the Goods Act 1958.
I understand that if the Australian Kung Fu (Wushu) Federation Ltd., and Australian Kung-
fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland has not complied with any law about the proper completion
of this form and how my signature is obtained (for example, if the Australian Kung Fu (Wushu)
Federation Ltd., and Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland has made a false or
misleading statement in relation to the steps taken by the Australian Kung Fu (Wushu)
Federation Ltd., and Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland to avoid the danger of
death or personal injury), or has acted recklessly, the Australian Kung Fu (Wushu) Federation
Ltd., and Australian Kung-fu/Wu-shu Federation Queensland cannot enforce this waiver.
