							DES IT Consultation Newsletter – February 2010
Usability Sessions
Usability Sessions for the Disability Employment Services (DES) system changes were
conducted during 9‐18 February 2010 in Canberra. The sessions were conducted with
representatives from DES provider organisations where participants interacted with the
system in the Training environment and provided constructive feedback on functionality
such as Program Review, Caseload Management, Case Summary, Claims and Ongoing
Support Assessment. We would like to thank those of you who participated in the sessions.
The feedback from the sessions is invaluable and will contribute to further improving the
usability and intuitiveness of the system and validate ongoing enhancements.
IT Advisory Group (ITAG)
ITAG convened on 16 February 2010 in Canberra and discussed DES transition and IT
consultation. The members also attended a usability session on Caseload Management.
Minutes of the meeting will soon be available on the IT Consultation website.
LiveMeets
LiveMeets on DES system updates have been held during January 2010 including external
web services; activity management enhancements; vacancy, placements and resume; and
ongoing support allocation and assessment. Transcripts and recordings of these sessions are
now available on the DES IT Consultation page.
National Panel of Assessor (NPA) Sessions
In response to strong interest from both providers and peak bodies, DEEWR organised
additional face to face and LiveMeet sessions specifically for NPA providers. The sessions
were conducted in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Topics discussed included the National
Panel of Assessors Policy and Service Delivery, The IT System for Ongoing Support
Assessment (OSA) and Supported Wage System (SWS) and the DES NPA Training Strategy
for SWS and OSA Providers. The sessions were very well attended and we appreciate your
ongoing participation and feedback. The transcript and recording of the Sydney LiveMeet
session is now available on the IT Consultation website for those who were not able to
attend.
The Employment Services System (ESS) Download
If you do not have ESS installed on your machine it can be downloaded from
http://employmentdownloads.deewr.gov.au/ .This site enables your IT support staff to
download DEEWR developed software and associated documentation and guidance. If
