Position Title: Community Educator
Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating, and implementing community
education to raise public awareness on issues of domestic violence.
Coordinate and present information on issues of domestic violence to general
community, religious organizations, university schools, cultural and business groups
by requests and on our initiation.
Recruit, train and supervise formerly battered women for Speaker’s Bureau
Organize and/or respond to media presentations on battering for television, radio and
Organize and facilitate at least one in-service training per year for professionals in the
Prepare public service announcements for television, radio, and newspaper
particularly during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Advertise speakers bureau and community education groups.
Develop and work with other staff to produce an agency newsletter.
Assist in coordinate and implementation of volunteer orientation sessions.
Provide ongoing support and feedback to volunteers and interns in conjunction with

Help conduct and participate in Inside Story Tours and other tours as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Attend required meetings and trainings.
Participate in purchase of educational tools adhering to education program budget.
Maintain resource library.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in related field or minimum of two years experience coordinating
an agency’s volunteer program or similar experience.
Two years of professional experience doing public speaking or equivalent education.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Strong computer skills including word, excel, publisher and power point.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload; ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to self-motiviate and create new objectives rather than just responding to
An understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence.
Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.
Acceptance of cultural, racial, religious, affectional preference and economic
Must have driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and agency required liability limits.
Knowledge of community resources.
