					The FinPharma Doctoral Program (FPDP) invites applications for

starting 1.1.2012. The fixed-duration positions will be up to four years of duration during

FPDP is a network-type doctoral programme that organizes doctoral training in drug
research in Finland at the University of Helsinki (responsible for finances and
administration), the Universities of Eastern Finland, Jyväskylä, Oulu, Tampere and Turku
and Åbo Akademi University. In addition, FPDP has close collaboration with the Finnish
Medicines Agency (Fimea), the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and several
pharmaceutical companies.

FPDP consists of four sections: Clinical Drug Research, Drug Discovery, Pharmacy and
Toxicology. FPDP supports doctoral training in high-quality research groups and gives its
students a broad understanding of drug development process, including research on
basic and clinical pharmacology, drug discovery, pharmaceutical sciences, toxicology and
the rational use of pharmaceuticals

Up to 27 doctoral student positions are now open in FPDP. Students with a relevant
degree in natural sciences, medicine, pharmacy, engineering or other suitable
background, and who aim at a doctoral degree are eligible to apply. The salary will be
based on the demands level chart (levels 1–4) for teaching and research personnel in the
salary system of Finnish universities and a salary component based on personal work

The application should include the following documents in English (font size 11, line
space 1), collated into one pdf file (section name_your last name) in the following
   -          letter of application indicating the section of FPDP and the research group to
       which the application is addressed (max 1 page),
   -          research plan and short description of the applicant’s skills and summary of
       his / her previous research experience (max 3 pages),
   -          study plan (max 1 page),
   -          CV including a list of publications (max 3 pages),
   -          university degree certificates and a transcript of academic records
   -          a written statement by the senior supervisor(s) of the research project
       describing the organization and funding of the project (max 2 pages).
The relevance and quality of the research plan and suitability of the project for the FPDP
section are key criteria for student selection.
