DeKalb Rape Crisis Center, Inc. seeks executive director.
DeKalb Rape Crisis Center provides direct services, prevention education, and advocacy for
youth and adult survivors of sexual assault, their families, and the community as a whole.
The Director oversees the services of the DeKalb Rape Crisis Center. The Director
represents the Center to the public and to related agencies in professional activities and
public relations, advocates for clients with officials in the judicial system, is the spokesperson
for community awareness and prevention of sexual assault, is the educator for other
professionals in treatment of rape trauma, provides community sexual assault prevention
training to schools, colleges, agencies, and other entities, and mobilizes community resources
to support optimal functioning. The Director also manages the daily oversight of the
physical plant and other aspects of the building and property in which the Center is housed,
which is owned by the Center.
Minimum Qualifications and Physical Environment:
Masters Degree (PhD preferred) in behavioral sciences with five years relevant experience.
Licensed in one of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Completion of DeKalb Rape Crisis
Center training program upon hiring.
Effective team leader and player with excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability
to interact with people at various levels in courteous, tactful, and poised manner. Must have
skills and experience to work effectively with the police, court and other community
agencies, as well as DeKalb Rape Crisis Center staff, Board of Directors, volunteers,
survivors and their families. Must have skills to effectively handle persons under emotional
stress and be able to problem solve. Ability to analyze data and to interpret a variety of
instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms. Performance improvement
knowledge and skills. Ability to utilize electronic databases. Invested in continuous learning.
Physical requirements are minimal with occasional standing or walking; driving; minimal
lifting or other physical exertion. Requires close and distance vision; the ability to talk, hear,
and manual dexterity. The noise level is moderate.

Supervises: All DeKalb Rape Crisis Center staff, interns, and volunteers
