Job Title:    SENIOR HOUSE OFFICER POSTS

Full-time Senior House Officers are required from August 2008 for a two-year period on the Mersey
Region Maxillofacial Surgery Rotation.

There are a number of different rotations involving the above hospitals, for either 6 or 12 month
periods of time.

These posts are tenable for 6 months initially and then renewable extending to a 2-year
rotation, depending on satisfactory assessment and appraisal.

Applicants must have a Primary Dental Qualification registerable with the GDC.

They offer broad exposure to all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including the
management of head and neck cancer, head and neck reconstruction, salivary gland surgery, adult
facial deformity and the management of facial injuries. A considerable volume of temporomandibular
joint surgery, dermatological surgery and dentoalveolar surgery is also undertaken. At Wirral
Hospital Trust there is an orthodontic rotation offering experience of treatment planning, review and
the appointees will have treatment lists.

An active programme of teaching exists and post-holders will be given encouragement to pursue
postgraduate qualification, perform supervised research projects and enter higher medical and dental
training where appropriate.

The Out-of Hours commitment varies with each rotation.

While based at Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Alder Hey Hospital, the post-holder will be
non-resident on-call.

While based at University Hospital Aintree, Arrowe Park Hospital and Countess of Chester Hospital,
a full shift system is in operation.

All posts have the appropriate educational approval and are recognised for learning by the Mersey
Deanery Dental Dean.
