Mono pigment preparations are adjusted to color strength in accordance with the tolerances laid down in the product specifications. ® We do not recommend Euvinyl C Yellow 17-8102 for applications in which a processing temperature of 200 °C (392 °F) is exceeded.

Euvinyl® C preparations

Application
Euvinyl® C preparations are mainly used for mass-coloring PVC-u, PVC-p, plastisols and PVC copolymers. They are also well suitable for the production of pigmented plasticizer pastes. By simply stirring into the plasticizer (no laborious grinding on cone, three roll or bead mills), high-quality pigment concentrates can be made, which are at least on a par with commercial plasticizer pastes. Euvinyl® C preparations can be dispersed quickly and easily in any medium compatible with the copolymer binder. When PVC copolymers are processed on screw extruders, calendars or roll mills, Euvinyl® C preparations should be added during the preparation of the mixture. They are best mixed into the PVC powder on equipment common to the plastics industry (e. g., fluid mixers) together with the other additives such as stabilizers, lubricants, extenders etc. Plasticizers and liquid stabilizers should only be added after thoroughly mixing the dry components. Plastisols can be colored by: 1. direct incorporation into the PVC paste While stirring, slowly add the required quantity of Euvinyl® C preparation to the plastisol. Depending on the intensity of stirring, after a more or less short time the binder will be dissolved, with the pigment dispersed finest. 2. preparation of a pigment/plasticizer concentrate While stirring, slowly add 25 parts of Euvinyl® C preparation to 75 parts of plasticizer. The binder will be dissolved after approx. 30 minutes – after 5 minutes when heated to 80 °C (176 °F). Influence on stability In general, Euvinyl® C preparations have no influence on the stability of the PVC colored with them. Euvinyl® C Scarlet 43-0002, however, being a manganese lake, may cause catalytic degradation of PVC if plasticizers based on unsaturated fatty acids are present and no adequate stabilizer is used.

Manufacturing plants and marketing units are certified according to EN ISO 9001. Quality control tests are carried out according to test methods, which are – together with the admissible tolerances – laid down in the product specifications.

Suitability for medical or pharmaceutical applications

Since the products are manufactured on an industrial scale, traces of impurities cannot be ruled out entirely. Therefore, we do not recommend them for sensitive applications such as medical equipment or materials that come into contact with inner organs or body fluids, neither do we recommend them for use in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals or foodstuffs. However, products of this range comply with the recommendations of the Plastics Commission of the German Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung (Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, BfR, formerly Bundesinstitut für gesundheitlichen Verbraucherschutz und Veterinärmedizin [BgVV]) and have been approved as colorants for food packaging. The preparations by recipe do not contain any lead, cadmium, chromium[VI] or mercury compounds. The total content of these elements is below 100 mg/kg and thus below the limits set forth in the EU Directive on packaging and packaging waste, 94/62/EC, and the American CONEG model. They also comply with the requirements of the EU Directive on end-of-life vehicles, 2000/53/EC, and the EU Directive on electrical equipment, 2002/95/EC.
