Club Championships Report – Brian Brooks
While the number of entries was not high this year, the quality of tennis was. The best contested events continue to be
the Men’s and Boy’s with a good number of entries in both events and some tightly contested matches.
Congratulations to Michael McCormick and Luke Hammond who have finally broken through for their first
championship singles titles. Also to Matt and Jarrod Bennetts who carried their very good Thursday night form into
the tournament to win their first Men’s Doubles title. The number of entries in Ladies and Girls events continues to be
disappointing although it is good that we still manage to run the events. The Ladies Final was an epic with Jess
Hammond winning her first title, defeating Melanie Brooks narrowly. Hopefully we are able to generate some more
interest next year.
