Last year our Christmas night out was at Hana Hana; this year we swap Japanese for
Spanish! Our December social and Christmas get together will be at El Coto in Newcastle.
(Close to Monument and St James Metro and the Haymarket bus station) There are lots of
different Tapas dishes to try and it should be a really good night so we hope as many people
as possible can attend.
The cost of the meal has been subsidised so the price is £15.00 per person. If you would like
to go can you let me know as soon as possible so I can reserve the necessary number of
places. We will then need a cheque made payable to Headway Gateshead and South
Tyneside by 22 November 2011 please. (Please send cheques to Headway Gateshead and

Town Hall tour with lunch
The Mayor and Mayoress of South Tyneside have kindly invited members to join them for a
light lunch and a tour around the town hall.

Film and video introduction taster sessions
Due to low numbers this events has been postponed but will run at a later date. If you are
interested in attending please let me know.
Further details will be circulated in due course. Included in the sessions will be an introduction
to film, green screen technology, find out how a studio operates and opportunities to do some
hands on work with film equipment.
We have been invited to join Headway Tynedale for a ten pin bowling afternoon.

Headway Drama group
Members from Headway Tynedale and Headway Durham and Chester-le-street are setting up

Younger person’s group
If you are between 18 – 28 and would like to get involved with the younger person’s group we
will be having the first get together on Saturday 26 November 2011 at 10.00am. The focus of
the group will be for younger people to take part in social activities with people of a similar age.
The first activity will be a Graffiti art session at the Baltic art centre, Gateshead which will
give everyone the opportunity to think of a name for the group and discuss ideas for future

Look Ahead in the North
All the guaranteed places for this year’s event have gone but if you are interested you can still
put your name on the reserve list as extra places will be divided up between interested groups

Self management course
After the success of the courses in South Tyneside a further six week course has been
organised for the end of November.
Self management is about people living with a long term condition being in control of their own
The course supports you by helping you to access the information and skills you need to
manage your condition better and your overall health and wellbeing.
Six members have already benefitted from the self management programme so if you would
