What is Forensics?
Forensics is the Speech and Debate program at Sonoma Valley High. In
Forensics students develop public speaking and performance skills. They also
learn research and argumentation techniques.
An SVHS Elective Class
Scheduled during the school day; credits count toward graduation
An academic elective—can be repeated each year and included in your grade
for full UC credit
Fulfills UC Visual and Performing Arts requirement
A relaxed, student centered class that gives much freedom and demands much
responsibility. If you are an independent thinker with self discipline and high
standards for yourself Forensics will work for you.
AN SVHS Team/Extracurricular Activity
The team competes in Bay Area league tournaments held on Saturdays about
once a month. Yes, we get up early some Saturday mornings, but it’s worth it!
Represent your school in prestigious academic competitions such as Mock
Trial and service club speech competitions which bring cash or scholarship
opportunities and could take you to national levels.
Visit schools and meet students from all over the state.
Spend great times with your teammates, a diverse group from all grade levels.
