The Sport & Exercise subject group is a dynamic, forward thinking and highly
motivated team. We pioneered the development of Sports Therapy
programmes in conjunction with The Society of Sports Therapists in the UK
and have developed a suite of, highly relevant, Sport & Exercise programmes
at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. For example, our UCPD
Exercise Referral course was one of the first of its kind in the country in 1997
and has recently been identified as the gold standard by Skills Active. We
also have links with CELS (Centre for Excellence in Life Sciences) and are
instrumental in the innovative development of specialist Level 4 National
Occupational Standard courses. Our network includes organisations and
employers in the North East of England and beyond offering students an
excellent opportunity for placements and consultancy. Mphil and PhD
opportunities are also available. Future expansion includes the development
of international courses in at least 2 continents!
