EXPLANATORY NOTE TO THE INDEX

Due to the variety of subject matter contained in "The Bulletin" the following have been omitted from the Index:

         Additions and Amendments to the Directory:

         Book Notices and Reviews, except where they have appeared as separate articles:

         Forthcoming events, including meetings;

         Honorary Secretary's Notes, except in a few cases where items have been extracted;

         Library and Museum presentations;

         Members' Announcements;

         Miscellaneous Notices;

The Index is laid out in two Sections as follows:

SECTION I - Subject Index

Subjects have been classified under eleven main headings, viz. Badges (including outstanding queries and Badges of Rank and
Appointment), Bands, Buttons, Colours and Guidons, Formation Signs, Headdress, Medals and Decorations, MHS, Shoulder Titles,
Uniform, Weapons. Those remaining unclassified have been inserted alphabetically.

SECTION 11 - Regimental Index

Given the many new regiments formed in the last five years the Index has once more been compiled under sub-sections. The first sub
section lists Regular Regiments and Corps (following the Order of Precedence, with those old constituent regiments mentioned in "The
Bulletin" being grouped under present titles. The Royal Marines are placed in the Line). The remaining entries are listed alphabetically
under the following headings: Disbanded Regiments and Corps of the United Kingdom, Militia, Yeomanry, Volunteers, Territorial Am1y,
Home Guard, Cadets, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, Overseas.
