                                     Beyond a woman…


“It’s a man’s world” they say, however Jamaican born and Ft. Lauderdale bred indie label
owner and creative brand manager Patrice Carter feels like its upon her shoulders to join
the ranks of powerful women trying to change that dated phrase. She is one of the few
female label owners in the game with Star Power Media, a boutique label she owns and
operates with her partners Make Mentore and R&B major recording artist Unique Zayas.
Through this venture and much more, she hopes to prove to a testosterone driven industry
that a woman’s assets far surpass her frame. For this single mother of one, the
entertainment industry has a far greater purpose than just “entertaining”. In her eyes she
and her colleagues whether in front of the camera or behind the scenes are more powerful
than a politician. “We are world leaders, what we do, say and stand for can sway a
multitude-we are influencers so it is within our power to use this gift wisely, selflessly.”
She brings this ideal into everything she does and surrounds herself with those who share
in such a truth. With achievements such as a major recording contract with Island Def
Jam Music Group for Unique through their label she is well on her way to establishing a
ladder of accolades to enable standing tall so everyone can hear what she has to say.

Currently Patrice and her partners are working on making an icon out of Unique through
timeless songs, innovative creative direction and perfect timing. Not stopping with just
the music aspect of the industry, her company is bound for media success as well through
aspirations of television and film projects. One key project in the development stage is
the reality show based on Unique and the team’s rise to the top. Titled “The Unique
Show” this true-life drama will be another notch under her belt and a major leap up that
career ladder. This achievement will allow her to wear the hats of Executive Producer
and TV Personality to boot. Her additional venture IDEA Maven! is a creative brand
management company that operates similar to her role in Unique’s project where she
oversees the creative direction of her clients in all areas of their careers. The niche of this
company however is based on taking the behind the scenes entertainment personality and
turning them into a non-traditional celebrity and brand as well. It seems in the direction
that her career is going, she too is her own client.

Add writer to the list and that completes Patrice Carter “for now”. Knowing she has a
very unique story to tell, she is currently preparing to publish an autobiography on her
life told through the eyes of a Christian woman. A story, she feels, that can positively
change the life of its readers. Not planning on stopping there however, she strongly
desires to become a philanthropist, humanitarian, activist (if need be). This super woman
is placing the bar high for herself and wherever life takes her is where she wants to be. In
the process she aims to teach others especially the youth and impoverished that the life
they desire and greater is attainable despite their circumstances and their past. Patrice
plans to use her companies and coming stature for the greater good of others and through
them will form foundations and effective positive campaigns that span the globe.
With such a plan underway, Patrice is determined to be the next female media mogul-her
main inspiration being Oprah Winfrey of course. “Its not always easy to take an idea and
bring it to life…to have a dream and fulfill it. It takes God first and foremost, a support
team, hard work, sacrifice and heart.” She holds true to her faith in such a higher power
and the direction she professes He has led and will lead her life. With such a strong
foundation she forges ahead determined to execute every idea and live every dream. In
the process, only good will come to her she feels. These blessings she hopes, will in turn
continually overflow to others. For what is life if you cannot change a life.
