    Starting and Customizing
    FrontPage
    • Click the Start button on the Windows
      taskbar, point to All Programs on the Start
      menu, point to Microsoft Office on the All
      Programs submenu, and then point to
      Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 on the
      Microsoft Office submenu
    • Click Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003
    • Click the Close button in the Getting
      Started task pane

    Starting and Customizing
    FrontPage
    • If the Language bar shows and it indicates
      that the microphone is on, click the
      Microphone button to turn it off
    • To close the Language bar, right-click it to
      display a list of commands and then click
      Close the Language bar on the shortcut
      menu
    • If the FrontPage window is not maximized,
      double-click its title bar to maximize it

    Using a Template to Create a
    FrontPage Web Site
    • Click File on the menu bar and then click
      Close
    • Click the New Page button arrow on the
      Standard toolbar
    • Click Web Site
    • When the Web Site Templates dialog box
      appears, click the Personal Web Site icon

    Using a Template to Create a
    FrontPage Web Site
    • Click the Specify the
      location of the new
      Web site text box and
      select the default
      location text
    • Type c:\jkeeler or
      a location specified by
      your instructor in the
      text box
    • Click the OK button

    Opening a Web Page in Page View
    • Double-click the file
      name, index.htm, in
      the Folder List pane

    Web Site
    • Click Format on the menu bar
    • Click Theme
    • When the Theme task pane is displayed,
      click the Vivid colors check box to select it
    • Scroll to Capsules in the Select a theme
      list

    • Click the c:\jkeeler
      folder in the Folder
      List pane
    • Double-click
      Capsules in the
      Select a theme list
    • Click the Yes button
    • Click the Close button

    • Position the insertion point
      at the beginning of the
      second paragraph, which
      begins with the text, The
      home page is a good spot…
    • Drag through the text to
      select it
    • Type My name is James
      Keeler, and I am a
      candidate to graduate
      from Trelane College.
      (You may substitute your
      personal information here.)

    Adding New Text to a Web Page
    • Press the ENTER key to start a new paragraph
      below the second paragraph
    • Type This Web site is the first Web
      site that I created
    • Press the ENTER key to start a new paragraph
    • Type Follow the links to learn more
      about my interests and to see some
      of my favorite Web sites.

    Selecting Tables and Cells
    • Click in the cell that
      contains the text,
      Favorite Links
    • Click Table on the
      menu bar and then
      point to Select
    • Click Table on the
      Select submenu

    Deleting a Selected Table
    • Right-click one of the
      selected cells
    • Click Delete Cells on
      the shortcut menu
    • Use the scroll bar in
      Page view to scroll to
      the bottom of the Web
      page

    Editing a Bulleted List
    • Double-click the file name, interest.htm, in the
      Folder List pane
    • Drag through the first sentence of text that
      begins, Here is a good place, to select it. Type
      What holds my interest in my chosen
      field of small-business marketing.
      as the new text
    • Drag through the text just entered to select it
    • Click the Style box arrow
    • If necessary, scroll down to Heading 3 in the
      Style list

    Editing a Bulleted List
    • Click Heading 3 in the Style list
    • Drag through the text of the first line in the
      bulleted list to select it
    • Type SBA – The first place to go for
      small business owners is the
      government’s Small Business
      Association.
    • Drag through the first hyperlink to select it and
      then type sba.gov as the new link
    • Drag through the remaining lines of text in the
      bulleted list and their respective hyperlinks

    Editing a Bulleted List
    • Type Guerrilla Promotions – Inexpensive and
      creative marketing approaches work well on
      the local level for small business. I find
      Guerrilla marketing to be incredibly fun
      and it works.
    • Press the ENTER key.
    • Type Branding – I enjoy the creative
      processes involved in developing a brand
      and developing a branding strategy to be
      invigorating. as the next item in the bulleted list
    • Press the ENTER key

    Editing a Bulleted List
    • Type Electronic Marketing – Technologies
      such as the Internet and multimedia have
      opened up new avenues for marketing
      products and services. I delve into as
      much new material regarding electronic
      marketing as I can get my hands on.
    • Select the acronym, SBA, just after the first bullet
    • Click the Bold button on the Formatting toolbar
    • Select the phrase, Guerrilla Promotions, just after the
      second bullet
    • Repeat the previous 2 steps to bold the words, Guerrilla
      Promotions, just after the second bullet; the word,
      Branding, just after the third bullet; and the words,
      Electronic Marketing, just after the fourth bullet

    Saving a Web Page
    • If necessary, scroll up
      and then click anywhere
      in the first paragraph of
      the Web page to unselect
      the last bold term
    • Click the Save button on
      the Standard toolbar
    • Click the index.htm tab at
      the top of the document
      window
    • Click the Save button on
      the Standard toolbar

    Previewing a Web Page
    in Preview View
    • In Page view, click the Preview
      button at the bottom of the
      document window
    • When you have finished
      viewing the Web page, click
      the interest.htm tab
    • When the interest.htm page
      appears, click the Preview
      button at the bottom of the
      document window
    • When you have finished
      viewing the Web page, click
      the index.htm tab
    • Click the Design button

    Modifying a Page Banner
    • If necessary, scroll to the top of the Home page
    • Position the mouse pointer over the page
      banner component on the Home page
    • Right-click the page banner
    • Click Page Banner Properties on the shortcut
      menu
    • When FrontPage displays the Page Banner
      Properties dialog box, select the text in the Page
      banner text box

    Modifying a Page Banner
    • Type Welcome to James Keeler’s
      Web Site as the new text
    • If necessary, click Picture in the
      properties area to select it
    • Click the OK button
    • Click the interest.htm tab

    • Right-click the page banner
    • Click Page Banner Properties
    • When FrontPage displays the Page
      Banner Properties dialog box, select the
      text in the Page banner text box, type
      Favorite Links as the new text, and
      then click the OK button

    • Press the DELETE key once
    • Right-click anywhere on the Example.com
      hyperlink

    • Click Hyperlink Properties on the shortcut menu
    • When FrontPage displays the Edit Hyperlink
      dialog box, Select the text in the Text to display
      box and then type Guerrilla Marketing
      Online as the new text
    • Select the text in the Address box and then type
      http://www.gmarketing.com/main.html
      as the new URL
    • Click the OK button
    • Below the first hyperlink, select the text that
      begins with, Write a description

    on a Web Page
    • Type Includes all kinds of resources to get
      you started on the fundamentals and advanced
      strategies involved with guerrilla marketing.
    • Repeat the previous steps to replace the second hyperlink
      with the text Marketing Survival Kit that links to the
      URL
      http://www. marketingsurvivalkit.com and a
      description of A great place to find marketing
      resources for small businesses.
    • Repeat the previous steps to replace the third hyperlink with
      the text Guitar Pro that links to the URL
      http://www.guitarpro.com and a description of When I
      need to relax, I find a new song to play on
      my guitar. I cannot read music, but Guitar
      Pro helps me sound fantastic.
    • Click the Save button on the Standard toolbar to save
      changes

    to a Web Page
    • Click the Save button on the Standard toolbar to
      save the interest.htm Web page
    • Click the index.htm tab in Page view
    • Position the insertion point at the end of the
      fourth paragraph, which begins, Follow the links
      to learn more about
    • Press the ENTER key
    • Type You may send an e-mail to me at
      jkeeler@trelanecollege.edu.

    • Drag through the text,
      jkeeler@trelanecollege.edu, to select it
    • Click the Insert Hyperlink button on the
      Standard toolbar
    • When FrontPage displays the Insert
      Hyperlink dialog box, click the E-mail
      Address button
    • Type jkeeler@trelanecollege.edu
      in the E-Mail address text box

    • Ready the printer
    • If necessary, double-click the file name,
      index.htm, in the Folder List pane or click
      the index.htm tab at the top of the
      document window to display the Home
      page in Page view
    • Click File on the menu bar
    • Click Print
    • Click the OK button

    Publishing a FrontPage Web Site
    • If necessary, save any unsaved pages
    • Click the Publish Site button on the Standard
      toolbar
    • If necessary, click the Remote Web server type
      as directed by your instructor
    • Click the Remote Web site location box and then
      type
       http://www.trelanecollege.edu/~jkeeler
       for the URL. Be sure to substitute your own URL
       when you see the URL,
       http://www.trelanecollege.edu/~jkeeler

    Publishing a FrontPage Web Site
    • Click the OK button
    • If a Microsoft FrontPage dialog box appears
      indicating that a Web site does not exist at the
      location, click the Yes button
    • Type your name in the User name text box, and
      then type your password in the Password text
      box
    • Click the OK button
    • Click the Publish Web site button
