Winners of the 6th edition held in Warsaw during the 11th EBAN Congress (May 2011)

 Business Angel of the Year: Francesco Marini Clarelli (Italy)

Francesco Marini Clarelli has been an active angel investor in startups all throughout his career and
he is currently the President and Co-founder of Italian Angels for Growth, the largest angel group in
the country. Francesco's investment approach has always been to go through a full due diligence for
each investment opportunity in terms of product/innovation/market potential and entrepreneurs'
qualities. He is also active at the cross border level as an early stage investor.

 Deal of the Year: Polidea (Poland)

Polidea is an investment operated by Lewiatan Business Angels (LBA) Poland that took place in mid-
2009. The investment of 100 000 pln (~25 000 EUR) was provided by business angels, which have
helped other founders to move the company forward. Operating in the mobile sector, Polidea has
nearly 30 employees, with several clients mainly from Europe and US, and it has been profitable in its
first year!

 Early Stage Fund of the Year: Seraphim (UK)

Seraphim has a unique 'Angel Backed' model whereby the investors in the fund, through
representatives on the investment committee, actually make the investment decisions. The Fund has
10 portfolio companies in early stage technology businesses across all sectors. Seraphim has invested
extensively alongside business angels and other venture capital funds.

 Impact Investment of the Year: EKO-Logic (Poland)

The idea of Eko-Logic's business model was to fulfill the compliance with the Kyoto Protocol while
allowing individual investors to enter into sectors hitherto reserved for corporations. New
regulations enabled the technology using dispersed generation to be implemented. This improves
the efficiency of the system, provides higher quality energy to the costumer, increases the reliability
of the power supply, and plays a part in the environment policy.

     Breakthrough Service/ Tool by a BAN: Paris Business Angels/ Angelsoft (FR/USA)

Paris Business Angels promoted the Angelsoft tool as a breakthrough service provided to its
members this year, but also to highlight the work done by Angelsoft with France Angels in the last
years to promote its wider adoption in France. Created by a Business Angel (David S. Rose, New York
Angels), Angelsoft has enabled the world to standardise on a single platform for angel deal-flow
management. Angelsoft brings the power of collaboration technologies to the professional early-
stage investment industry. It has concluded a recent agreement with the French federation of
networks, France Angels, to increase the adoption of the platform in France with important
customer-support provision.
