                            PRESS INFORMATION
                                    September 3rd, 2009
                                      Time: 3:00 pm

On Thursday, September 3rd, 2009, members of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office
SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of Centerville
Lane, Gardnerville.

Service of the warrant was the culmination of a seven month long criminal investigation
into the trafficking, sales and distribution of methamphetamine within Douglas and
surrounding counties by suspect Kenneth Howard Pestana.

The seven month long investigation was a joint effort conducted by members of the
Douglas County Street Enforcement Team (DCSET), TRINET, SLEDNET, and the U.S.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

In addition to the search warrant, officers served an arrest warrant on the resident /
homeowner, 54 year-old Kenneth Pestana. Pestana was arrested for 2 counts of
trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and one count of sales of a
controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Also present at the home during service of the warrants was 29 year-old Dawn Marie
Jennings, a parole absconder from Nevada State Parole and Probation. Jennings is on
parole for charges related to methamphetamine.

Jennings, who resides at the location with Pestana, provided false information about her
identity, but her true identity was later discovered by investigators at the scene. Jennings
was subsequently arrested for absconding from parole/probation.

Both Pestana and Jennings were transported the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Valley
Jail, where they were booked for the listed charges.

Pestana’s bail was set at $250,000.00 cash-only.

Jennings is being held on a “no-bail” hold by Nevada State Parole and Probation.
