       House Runner’s mission is to give households of every income level the tools they need to

       A1 What is House Runner?
       House Runner is an innovative, affordable and easy-to-use home energy management
       system. Z-wave powered devices, software and remote access tools (web account and mobile
       apps) give customers control over common devices located in the home. This helps to
       conserve energy, curb carbon emissions and cut utility costs.


       A2 What is “Running the Grid”?
       The “Grid”, refers to the U.S. electrical grid system. It currently uses old, inefficient technology
       – resulting in higher electricity costs and higher carbon emissions.


       However, with House Runner you can “Run the Grid” on your own terms by using our
       technology to create a ‘smart home’ running a ‘smart grid’. With proper use, a basic House
       Runner kit, consisting of a remote thermostat and only two light controls, can reduce
       household energy use, carbon emissions and utility costs by 15% or more.
  A3 How Does it Work?
  The House Runner solution works as follows:
  •   House Runner or partner devices are installed in the home.
  •   Patented software communicates with and controls the devices.
  •   Remote access tools, including web accounts on HouseRunner.com and smart phone

     B1 Wi-Fi Controller Box
     Start Here!
     All House Runner Devices are controlled using our Z-Wave Wi-fi controller box. This box
     serves as a a built-in wi-fi access point, firewall, gateway and router and makes controlling
     your energy use easy. With House Runner even a novice can do everything you'd expect from
     a high-end home automation system.


     Simple Home Networking
House Runner is for the total novice. Just plug in the controller box and it configures itself, our
computer or smart whether you have an existing home network or not. Just turn House Runner
on and you have a secure wireless home network.


Real-time and historic energy usage
House Runner constantly tracks how much energy you are using. Every time you turn on a
light, or lower the thermostat, House Runner logs it and calculates how much energy is being
used. Using your computer or smart phone, you can then view simple, visual charts of your
energy usage:

•   Which types of appliances
•   Which times of day
•   What days of the week


B2 Wireless Thermostats
Take control over you home heating costs with any of these Z-wave enabled, wireless

House Runner offers a variety of switches and outlets to help control the lighting in and around

Have a fresh pot of coffee waiting for you in the morning. Never worry about leaving your oven
on again. Z-Wave appliance controls let you take control over all the appliances in your home

      Complete Home Automation
      Automated Home control has never been easier. Using House Runner, even a home
      automation novice can do everything you'd expect from a complex, high-end smart home
      system.

      House Runner makes it easy for you to create real, measurable changes in your energy
      usage. House Runner will monitor how much energy you're consuming at certain times of
      the day and notify you, if you choose, when your desired energy use is being exceeded.

      Create Events
      Events tell House Runner to do something in response to a trigger. For example, with
      lighting controls, you can tell the outside porch lights to turn on at sunset.

      Create Scenes
      If you have thermostat controls, program your scene so that at the click of a button, your
      wi-fi thermostat will lower the heat. Scenes are fully customizable to your devices and can
      be controlled with your iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone or a universal remote used with your
      audio/video equipment.

      Timers
      Set timers to control your devices at specific times of the day. For example “turn off the
      inside lights at 9am” or “lower the thermostat on Wednesdays and Fridays at 11am”
      Notifications
      House Runner can be programmed to send you messages via SMS, e-mail or a phone
      call when certain events occur that you want to know about. For instance, if you have
      lighting controls, it can tell you if your child comes home for lunch and forgets to turn off
      the lights when she leaves.


      Expanding Smart House Technology
      Soon, using cutting edge image sensor technology, House Runner systems will be able to
      read each household member’s signature while in the home. This will enable your home to
      automatically configure itself to an individual’s desired setting. Settings may include

As a House Runner customer, you can monitor and control your devices from anywhere: in the
home, while at work or at play. Control all the devices in your home using your mobile phone or a
web browser. Access your home controls from anywhere at any time.


Once House Runner is installed, simply go to houserunner.com and sign in. click the dashboard
link and you are ready to go. House Runner uses the same security that on-line banks use to
protect your transactions, so nobody can get in and control your home without your password.


The House Runner Dashboard
With the House Runner dashboard, you can stay connected to House Runner from anywhere in
the world and safely archive data. This service, which gives you secure remote access to your
home from a web browser, smart phone apps and email notifications, is totally free. The House
Runner dashboard includes:

• Graphic Controls
   An easy to read graphical interface that lets you control all of your House Runner devices no
   matter where you are, in real time.

• SMS, Email, or voice call alerts when an event occurs
   House Runner will let you know when an event has occurred, per your setup.

• Energy logging
   This feature allows you to keep a record of all the energy usage reported by House Runner
       every 60 minutes for every device in the home on our secure servers. Data is kept for a year,
       and charts and graphs displaying your usage are automatically generated.

    Prescreened to the Extreme
Not every contractor can become a House Runner certified contractor. House Runner puts its
contractors through a prescreening process that includes background checks, proof of
certifications and training and customer satisfaction testimonials. Our contractors apply to join
the House Runner network and is monitored closely. If a contractor has problems with work
quality or customer satisfaction, that contractor risks removal from the network.

The House Runner referral network is for home energy professionals only. We do
not water down our referral by adding general contractors to the network.

Get high Quality Jobs with little Effort
House Runner will educate and motivate our customers with regards to the
importance and value of home energy efficiency–improving the close rates for our
contractors.

We Prescreen Our Customers
House Runner won’t waste your time with dead end leads. By the time you receive a
referral from House Runner you can be assured that:

1) The customer is educated with regards to home energy efficiency and what
    certain projects and upgrades will require

2) A House Runner representative will screen the customer to determine their true
    level of interest

3) Referrals are exclusive to each contractor OR if the customer requests multiple
    bids, then the referral will be sent out to a maximum of 2 other House Runner
    contractors.
