RE: State Trap Shoot – October 24, 2009 - El Reno, Oklahoma

SCHEDULE FOR THIS EVENT
   1. 8:30 a.m. Practice houses open
      2. 8:30 a.m. Registration. Pre-registration and Pre-payment is required! No money will be
         accepted at the event!
      3. All teams who mail (with payment) their pre-registration team rosters by October 19 will be
squaded either early or late as indicated and will receive a squading list on Thursday, October
22nd. Registrations received after 5:00 p.m. on October 19 will not be accepted!
      4. Pre-squaded teams will not be changed on the day of the shoot. If a team member or members
do not show up and pre-squaded teams drop to less than 3 members, the remaining team
         members will shoot as individuals.
      5. NEW THIS YEAR – participants will have 10 practice rounds on the house they will shoot
during the competition. These 10 shots will take place immediately before they shoot their
official round. These practice rounds are included in the registration fee. Those requesting
early shooting times that are shooting in the first flight will need to have their practice rounds
completed so that we may begin the contest at 9:00 AM.
      6. Trap shooting will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.
      7. To cover the scoring for all teams we need each team to provide two people that can score. One
would be the official scorer and the other would be a second set of eyes to back up the decision of
the official scorer. If a county brings five teams, then they would need 5 sets of folks to help
score when their child is not shooting.
      8. Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the shoot offs.

               Pre-registration and Pre-payment is required!
Advanced registration allows the squading procedure to move more efficiently. Pre-squaded teams
will not be changed on the day of the shoot. If a member of the team does not show up the other
members of the team will shoot as individuals.

Notice: Team Format – Counties who wish to have members compete for team awards must indicate
who will be on the team at pre-registration. Teams may have up to four (4) members with the top
three scores being used to pick the team score and ranking. If there are 4 shooters squaded as a team
the 5th hole will be left empty. If only three are listed 2 individials will be added to the squad.
                                               NOTICE
                     HUNTER SAFETY EDUCATION VERIFICATION
All participants must have completed the Hunter Education Safety Program to be eligible to
participate in any 4-H Shooting Sports Contest.

Verification of Shooters: Extension Educators, Coordinators or Coaches must submit a signed list of
eligible shooters from the county: (1) verifying that they are 4-H Members, (2) having completed the
hunter education safety program, and (3) having attended a minimum of 8 hours of instruction prior
to the contest. We are no longer maintaining a file of the cards; your signature is legal verification that
they have completed the course.

In order for an event to take place, it takes many willing hands to serve in various roles. OTA will
provide volunteers, but we do need help conducting the contest. Each county/team is asked to
provide two adults for each team entered to work at the shoot.

Practice shooting will begin at 8:30 am. The fees for additional practice shooting that are not already
covered in the registrations must be paid at the desk before going outside to the range and are not
included with the registration cost for the actual shoot. Additional practice rounds are available for
$4.00 for 25 targets (subject to change).

At registration the coaches and/or coordinators will be asked to provide a member certification form.
This form verifies that members have been trained by a 4-H certified instructor and that they meet
membership requirements, for those using the pre-entry option, this form should be submitted in
advance of the shoot.

A copy of a RAM form, which should be in the hands of the respective coaches and leaders for each
individual 4-H participant, can be downloaded from the Oklahoma 4-H shooting sports Website.
These do not need to be submitted at registration time; however, in case of an emergency or accident,
the coach/leader should have them easily accessible. Each county should secure their own activity
insurance.
