Updated for the 2009 / 2010 Season this document should provide the organiser with all the tools need
to deliver cluster and SSP events and finals
Information on each section is detailed below - please read carefully to ensure you are able to navigate
the workbook tabs effectively
Contents
Team Names & Events
This vital page is the place to insert the number of Schools competing, their Team Names and make any
additions to the events (due to differences in facilities and local equipment you now have the space to
add events such as a hurdles relay). Any boxes in YELLOW can be edited.
Team Scores
No inputting of data is required here. This page serves as the points totals during the competition and is
a useful overview to all involved in the competition.
Girls
Input of all the girls results in their track relays and field events - see the information on the right of this
page for advice.
Boys
Input of all the boys results in their track relays and field events - see the information on the right of this
page for advice.
Final Results
A useful sheet for event announcers to read the final results - This page also doubles up as a Press
Release and can be handed to all interested parties at the end of the event. (Please note it would be
easier to email this sheet as a PDF to ensure you keep the data - use cutePDF or similar to print to PDF)

A copy of the Standard Track Recording Pad - Please ensure you print enough for the number of Relays
you wish to run

Again the information for these sheets comes from the Team Names & Events Tab - Printing these and
attaching to the sports hall wall allows you to manage the teams easier as they arrive
Primary Scoresheet
Information
Track Input
Each of the track events can be scored either by imputing a place (i.e. 1, 2, 3 etc) or a time in
seconds (i.e.. 65.3, 55.2, 90.2). This will then rank the teams automatically with either method.
DO NOT try to use mins & secs as this will not work!
Times must be converted to seconds;
1m30.44s will be 90.5
hand timed split seconds are always rounded up to the next tenth;
eg.
55.47s to 55.5s / 55.43s to 55.5s / 55.40s to 55.4
The example opposite shows the two scoring methods in action;
The Obstacle Relay has been scored using time in seconds.
The 1 + 1 Lap Relay has been placed simply using finish position.
The easiest way of scoring the track during a Primary competition is to just use finish position.
This reduces the amount of officials needed and also speeds up the event as there is less time
spent on paperwork between races! The colour order of the teams as they cross the finish line
is recorded and this imputed into the scoring table. The Obstacle and Over Under Relays have
a fault measure so a time should be recorded for in these races as places may change once
the time faults have been added on.
Primary Scoresheet
Information
Field Input
Much easier to input - all the field events just need the top performance from each child to
score for the team.
In the example to the right the three teams each had three athletes taking part in the Chest
Push. Each of the athletes three attempts during the competition and the best from each was
recorded here. The RED teams best attempts were 5.5m, 5.5m & 8.25m. This gave the
combined total of 19.25m which placed the team 1st out of three and they were awarded a
maximum 30 points.

Aviva UKA Academy
Aviva Sportshall Primary provides the ideal pathway in which to introduce young people to athletics and multi-skills competition and is a key
component within the Aviva UKA Academy. As the governing body for athletics, the premier Olympic and Paralympic sport, UKA endeavours
to inspire future generations of champions through increased engagement with its grassroots products, of which, through sponsorship from
Aviva, now fall under the umbrella of the Aviva UKA Academy.
Aviva has been the team behind UKA for more than a decade, and is committed to supporting athletics in the UK from playground to
podium.
