      GUIDELINES FOR CONTINOUS BATTING ORDER REQUIREMENTS
                                        REVISED 2007

1. WHEN A PLAYER IS ENTERED IN THE LINE UP AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME BUT BECAUSE OF
  INJURY OR ILLNESS IS UNABLE TO CONTINUE PARTICIPATION, THIS POSITION IN THE BATTING ORDER
  WILL BE SKIPPED WITHOUT PENALTY.

2. WHEN A PLAYER IS IN ATTENDANCE AT GAME TIME BUT IS UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE BECAUSE OF
  INJURY OR ILLNESS, THIS PLAYER WILL BE LISTED IN HE BATTING ORDER BUT SKIPPED OVER WITHOUT
  PENALTY.

3. SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES AS IN RULE #1 AND RULE #2 WILL BE INSERTED BY THE PLAYER'S NAME IN THE
  BATTING ORDER BY THE OFFICIAL SCOREKEEPER.

4. WHEN, AT GAME TIME, EITHER OR BOTH TEAMS HAVE LESS THAN 12 PLAYERS THE FOLLOWING WILL
  APPLY:
         A. LIST ALL PLAYERS' NAMES IN THE BATTING ORDER WITH ABSENT PLAYERS LISTED AT THE END
         OF THE LINE UP WITH ABSENT RECORDED BY THEIR APPROPRIATE NAMES BY THE OFFICIAL
         SCOREKEEPER.

       B. WHEN OR IF A PLAYER ARRIVES AFTER THE GAME STARTS THE MANAGER MUST REPORT TO
       THE OFFICIAL SCOREKEEPER THE NAME OF THE PLAYER AND THIS PLAYER WILL BE INSERTED
       INTO HIS PROPER BATTING ORDER.

5. WHEN A BATTER BECOMES INCAPACITATED AND CANNOT CONTINUE OR COMPLETE HIS TURN AT BAT,
  THE FOLLOWING WILL APPLY:
        A. WHEN A PLAYER BECOMES INJURED, ILL, OR INCAPACITATED DURING HIS TURN AT BAT AND
        CANNOT COMPLETE HIS TURN AT BAT THE LAST AVAILABLE PLAYER WHICH MADE THE LAST OUT
        SHALL ASSUME THE INJURED, ILL OR INCAPACITATED BATTER'S POSITION IN THE BATTERS BOX.
        ANY BALL AND STRIKE COUNT, IF APPLICABLE, WILL BE ASSUMED BY THIS REPLACEMENT
        BATTER.

       B. IF THERE ARE NO OUTS IN THE INNING THEN THE LAST AVAILABLE PLAYER THAT MADE THE
       LAST OUT IN THE PREVIOUS INNING ASSUMES THE INCAPACITATED BATTERS POSITION IN THE
       BATTERS BOX. ANY BALL AND STRIKE COUNT WILL BE ASSUMED BY THIS REPLACEMENT
       BATTER.

       C. IF THE LEAD OFF BATTER IN THE FIRST INNING BECOMES ILL, INJURED OR INCAPACITATED,
       THE LAST BATTER LISTED ON THE BATTING ORDER WILL ASSUME THIS BATTER'S POSITION IN
       THE BATTERS BOX. ANY BALL AND STRIKE COUNT WILL BE ASSUMED BY THIS REPLACEMENT
       BATTER.

       D. IF THE INCAPACITATED BATTER CANNOT CONTINUE, THEN THIS PLAYER IS SKIPPED IN THE
       BATTING ORDER AS IN RULE 2.

       E. IF THE INCAPACITATED BATTER IS ABLE TO CONTINUE OR RETURN TO THE BATTING ORDER
       LATER, THEN THE BATTING ORDER WILL CONTINUE AS PREVIOUSLY FOLLOWED BEFORE THE
       BATTER BECAME INCAPACITATED.

6. WHEN A RUNNER BECOMES INCAPACITATED AND CANNOT CONTINUE OR COMPLETE HIS
ADVANCEMENT ON THE BASES, THE FOLLOWING WILL APPLY:
       A. IF A RUNNER/S BECOMES ILL, INJURED OR INCAPACITATED THE LAST AVAILABLE ELIGIBLE
       PLAYER THAT MADE THE LAST OUT ASSUMES THE INCAPACITATED RUNNER'S POSITION ON THE
       BASE.

          B. IF THERE ARE NO OUTS IN THE INNING WHEN A RUNNER BECOMES INCAPACITATED WHILE
          RUNNING THE BASES, THEN THE LAST PLAYER LISTED IN THE BATTING ORDER WILL ASSUME THE
          INCAPACITATED RUNNERS POSITION ON THE BASES.

          C. IF THE INCAPACITATED RUNNER CANNOT CONTINUE OR FINISH THE GAME, THEN THIS PLAYER
          IS SKIPPED IN THE BATTING ORDER AS IN RULE 2.

          D. IF THE INCAPACITATED RUNNER IS ABLE TO CONTINUE OR RETURN TO THE BATTING ORDER
          LATER, THEN THE BATTING ORDER WILL CONTINUE AS PREVIOUSLY FOLLOWED BEFORE THE
          RUNNER BECAME INCAPACITATED.

7. THE FREE SUBSTITUTION RULE ON DEFENSE IS ALLOWED UNDER TOURNAMENT RULE IX (C)(5) - PLAYER
    PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT OF THE OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATION GUIDE FOR DIXIE YOUTH
    BASEBALL

8 PENALTY - The penalty for violation of IX(A)(1) shall be the disqualification of the team manager for the remainder
  of the game and the remainder of the next game played by his team in the tournament or series.
 The penalty for violation of IX(A)(2) shall be the disqualification of the team manager for the remainder of the game
  and the next game played by his team in the tournament or series. Exception: If the manager refuses to insert
  players into the defensive lineup during a game after being notified by the official scorer or a DYB official that a player
  or players on the team has not met the participation requirement, these players shall be inserted in the game by the
  tournament director and the team manager shall be removed from the team immediately and disqualified for the
  remainder of the current tournament season.
 NOTE: This penalty shall apply to both teams, even if the last half of the sixth inning is not required. The only
  exceptions shall be when the game is considered a regulation game but is not completed in six innings (five and one-
  half innings with the Home Team leading) because of the ten run rule, or when a team concedes before all available
  players have participated.


9. ANY TEAM THAT EMPLOYS TACTICS DESIGNED TO DELAY, SHORTEN OR EXTEND THE GAME SO THAT IT
  MAY COMPLY WITH THE PLAYER PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS WILL FORFEIT THE GAME TO THE
  OPPOSING TEAM.

10. EACH TOURNAMENT TEAM IS REQUIRED TO HAVE TWELVE (12) PLAYERS AND THREE (3)
  MANAGER/COACHES PRESENT AT EACH TOURNAMENT GAME EXCEPT THAT ANY UNFILLED PLAYER
  VACANCY OR A PLAYER’S ABSENCE MAY BE APPROVED BY THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR FOR
  JUSTIFIABLE REASONS. THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR WILL SUSPEND A TEAM MANAGER FROM
  PARTICIPATING IN ANY GAME WHERE A PLAYER VACANCY OR ABSENCE CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED. THE
  TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR MAY REQUIRE A TEAM TO REPLACE A PLAYER WHO’S CONTINUED
  PARTICIPATION ON THE TEAM IS IN DOUBT. lll. TEAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS (D) PAGE 86-87

11. ALL PLAYERS SHALL PLAY 3 CONSECUTIVE OUTS ON DEFENSE.
