             FOUNDATION INSTITUTE"

Dr. Chika A. Onyeani, has been selected by the world’s No.1 newspaper, the New York
Times, to be a “2005 Fellow to the New York Times Company Foundation Institute.”
Onyeani is one of 12 people selected out of the more than 165 ethnic newspapers
published in New York.

This is not only a great honor to Dr. Onyeani, but to the African Sun Times, which he
founded in 1989, and has been its Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.

This recognition from the New York Times is one in a series of significant honors which
have been bestowed on Dr. Onyeani, who is popularly known as “Dean of the African
Media in America.” On June 8th, 2001, the organisation of African Unity (predecessor
to the African Union) wrote and called Onyeani “a highly-regarded Pan-Africanist...who
have certainly used the pages of the African Sun Times to advance and champion
Africa’s agenda in the United States.”

On December 7, 2000, in giving Onyeani the Most Distinguished Achievement Award,
Morgan State University described Chika Onyeani as “A Man for All Seasons...an
international diplomat, a pace-setting journalist, and a distinguished author,” who “for
over three decades has been both pioneer and path-finder, beacon and trail-blazer,
commander and mighty warrior. From his current post as Editor-in-Chief of the African
Sun Times and his various stations in the world-wide Pan-African Movement, Dr.
Onyeani has achieved singularity and honor as one of Africa’s foremost statesmen.”
In 2004, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP),
New York, honored Dr. Onyeani with the 2004 Black Heritage Humanitarian Award for
his “lifetime devotion to the cause of freedom, justice, and equality and the personal
dignity of humankind.” That was the first time a Nigerian-born was so honored by the
NAACP.

In both 1997 and 1998, Dr. Onyeani was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the State
of Tennessee, USA, as well as Honorary Citizen of the city of Nashville. Twince
honored with chieftaincy titles in Nigeria (“Igwe I” - Man of Steel and “Akanagbajiegbe
I” - Pen is Mightier Than the Sword), Onyeani has received more than 45 honors for
journalistic excellence and community leadership and is the founder and chair of the
Celebrate Africa Foundation, an organization whose sole mission is the positive
promotion of Africa in the international arena.

Dr. Onyeani is the author of the critically acclaimed book, “Capitalist Nigger: The Road
to Success - A Spider Web Doctrine,” and his next book, “The Broederbond
Conspiracy” will soon be published. He is also the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of The
African Sun Times, a great newspaper for a great people and a great continent!!
