					GIS Intern for Baltimore City Department of Recreation & Parks

The Baltimore City Department of Recreation & Parks is looking for a part time intern to assist in their
daily departmental GIS operations. The applicant should be a sharp-minded student or professional who
is responsible and has problem solving ability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. The
position requires a background in ArcGIS and working with computers.

Requirements:
1-2 years experience with the following:
     ArcGIS 9 or 10 (ArcView, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox)
     Creating & editing feature classes, shapefiles & attribute tables
     Familiarity with both raster & vector files
     Frequently using Microsoft Office software (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
     Using PC computers running Windows XP or Windows 7
Ability to work well and communicate with a team
Interest in city parks and recreation, urban park analysis and research, outdoor recreation guides and
    publications, or urban forestry applications using GIS

Job description:
     Update park maps and feature classes (layers) using aerial photographs and field work.
     Respond to basic park map or data requests.
     Use various map viewers to produce printed maps by request.
     Identify property ownership information and create maps showing parcel boundaries.
     Assist the full time Geospatial Analyst with department GIS projects.
