Mastitis - an inflammation of breast tiss

Mastitis - an inflammation of breast tissue, caused by bacterial
infection. In 95% of patients with mastitis caused by Staphylococcus
aureus. Gateway for infection in 50% of the cases are cracked nipples,
abrasions, eczema, minor wounds.Distinguish acute and chronic mastitis.
Also, depending on the condition of the breast, mastitis is divided into
lactation (postpartum) and nelaktatsionny. Mastitis also may develop on
the background lactostasis - milk stagnation in the chest. However, in
most cases the disease occurs in women after childbirth (up to 90% of
cases), most often in primiparous women. The remaining cases of mastitis
are separated by 5% during pregnancy and 5% in non-pregnant.As a separate
disease mastitis produce babies, growing children in the first 2-3 weeks
of life against the background of physiological swelling of mammary
glands during this period, both boys and girls alike.CausesContributing
factors are: decrease the body's resistance to infections; stagnation of
milk in the mammary gland (lactostasis); damage of the breast, giving
access infection.Reasons for lowering the body's resistance: abnormal
flows pregnancy, especially in the presence of concomitant diseases
(rheumatism, malformations); various diseases during pregnancy; Severe
childbirth; colds.Path of infection: moves through the milk; through the
lymphatic pathway (from the wounds, fractures, etc.); through the blood
(sepsis). What's happening? The initial stage is called serous mastitis. It
must be distinguished from lactostasis because remedial measures and
recommendations for these diseases are different. With the progression of
the process may be festering with the formation of abscesses (cavities
filled with pus), cellulitis (pus soaking the breast tissue) and even, in
severe cases, gangrene. Overall state of health with the development of
more severe forms of mastitis progressively worsens, fever, sore breasts
denser. These conditions require surgical intervention.TreatmentWith the
advent of the first signs of mastitis should immediately consult a doctor
and not try to treat yourself. Only a doctor can help monitor the disease
and avoid complications. If you lactostasis pumping and latch baby to the
breast immediately bring relief and healing are the main events, the
acute mastitis requires medical monitoring and treatment with
antibiotics.Feeding in mastitis is contraindicated due to risk of
infection of the child, the possibility of re (back) infection of mother,
child ingestion of antibiotics and other drugs, deficiency of milk
composition.Conservative therapy begins with a thorough pumping milk.
Before pumping your doctor may prescribe procaine blockade of the
affected area with a local breast introduction of antibiotics,
antispasmodics, antihistamines. These procedures can be carried out up to
three times a day. Antibiotics are prescribed as inside. To increase the
effectiveness of treatment in severe cases, prescribe medication,
inhibiting milk production by reducing the development of pituitary
hormones - Parlodel. For urgent advice of the physician in mastitis, there
are special services paid by nursing mothers. Consultations are on the
phone (for free) and on-site doctor at home (24 hours). In addition, the
district operates a free prenatal doctor on call at home.
