DELFIN AMAZON RIVERBOAT CRUISE - HEADWATERS OF THE AMAZON
                             3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS
Day 01: to Iquitos B, L, D
This morning you are welcomed at the airport and transferred to the pier, where
motorboats take you to Islacocha, our private floating embarkation lounge and dock.
Cruise check-in is handled here, before evening embarkation on the Delfin, a classic
Amazon expedition riverboat, and your home for the next two nights.
At 19:30, as you enjoy cool tropical drink on the Observation Deck, you sail on your
Amazon expedition voyage.

Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, a locally renowned and innovative young chef who is
surprising the most sophisticated palates the world over with the pleasures of Peru’s
new haute cuisine, has designed a balanced gourmet menu for your cruise, bringing the
exotic bounty of the rainforest to your table. Dinner this evening starts the feasting!
Dress is casual and the atmosphere cozy.

The Delfin takes you into Earth’s greatest wilderness tonight. Sweet dreams.
The Amazon River, the largest in the world, has always been a place of pilgrimage for
different types of explorers: Whether seeking long lost treasure such as that in the
legend of El Dorado, or the more recent "black gold", rubber, production of which in the
19th Century produced rapid economic progress for Iquitos. Some Art Nouveau houses
remain as relics of the rubber boom - a style of architecture that is very rare in Amazon
cities - the best known of which is the "Iron House" designed by Gustave Eiffel.

Delfin Amazon Riverboat – 2 nights
Originally built in 1986 and
completely refurbished in 2006,
she is 67 feet long with a beam

Day 02: Headwaters of the Amazon B, L, D
Dawn and dusk are ideal times for nature observation; early rising is therefore highly
recommended.

This morning you arrive at the junction of the
Marañon and Ucayali rivers, where the main
Amazon River is formed, and gray and pink dolphins
play; there are feeding spots where you may swim
with them. Nature excursions today include
searching for two unique giant plants: the Victoria
Regia water lily and the ceiba tree. Spotting elusive
squirrel and capuchin monkeys, sloths, terns, oriole
blackbirds, wattled Jacanas and black collared hawks. Night sightings of common
pottoos, nightjars, black caimans, capybaras, fishing bats, frogs and other wildlife.

Tonight, far from civilization, the stargazing opportunities are unique. You can see
stars of both the northern and southern constellations.

Day 03: Depart Iquitos B, L
Today as you continue your cruise, along the shoreline you occasionally view small
native villages, these are the last human outposts of the upper Amazon rainforest. You
may visit one of them to learn more about the native inhabitants’ wisdom and
spirituality, and complete your rainforest experience. You may also do some fishing,
where the legendary piranha is the catch of the day.

After lunch, you bid farewell to the Delfin. Disembarking is at 14:00. You transfer you
by speedboat back to Iquitos, where you enjoy a guided tour of this bustling frontier
city, located four degrees south of the Equator and 3,700kms/2,300mls from the river’s
mouth in the Atlantic Ocean, making it the world’s furthest inland seaport. Before
proceeding to the airport, you visit the San Juan Amazonian handcraft market.

Later you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Lima on flight TBD.
