McGill Bursary Program
McGill University, in partnership with the Coasters Association and its Networking
Table (Lower North Shore Coalition for Health), will be offering four (4) bursaries to
students studying in Health and Social Service Programs on or off the Lower North
The purpose of the Bursary Program is to address the need for bilingual professionals
in health and social services in selected Quebec regions by encouraging students to
pursue studies in health and social service disciplines, in government recognized
educational institutions outside their region, and return to their region to work and
serve their communities.
The bursary amounts are fixed based on the student’s level of study:
University: Up to $10,000 per year per student registered for full-time studies
during 2011 - 2012, 2012 - 2013 academic years.
Cégep / college: Up to $5,000 per year per student registered for full-time
studies during 2011 - 2012, 2012 - 2013 academic years.
Secondary school vocational training: Up to $5,000 per year per student
registered for full-time studies during 2011 - 2012, 2012 - 2013 academic
The bursary application and rules for admissibility are available on the Coaster
Association web site (www.coastersassociation.com) or by calling the office.
All applications must be received no later than January 30th, 2012, at 5:00 pm. Four
applicants will be selected by a committee comprised of members from the Coasters
Association, Centre de Santé de la Basse Cote Nord, Commission Scolaire du Littoral
and Dr. Camille Marcoux Foundation, and submitted to McGill University.
Furthermore, the Camille-Marcoux Foundation also offers scholarships to students
from the Lower North Shore who are pursuing post-secondary studies. The deadline
to apply is Feburary 28th of each year. For further information, or to obtain the
