 HIGH INVOLVEMENT: these students are using
  drugs and/or alcohol heavily, to the point that their
  lives center around substance abuse.
 MODERATE INVOLVEMENT: these students do get
  high or intoxicated enough to cause a hazard to
  themselves or others. These students show potential
  to become more involved with drugs/alcohol in the
  future
 LOW INVOLVEMENT: these students may be light
  alcohol users , who rarely, if ever, get drunk, or they
  may have experimented with other drugs. They are
  not using now.

 Our students believe that Drugs and alcohol are easy to get.
 Drugs and alcohol are used primarily at parties and with
    friends.
   The students that report that they don’t use drugs or alcohol
    find it easy to say “no” to a friend.
   If you hang around with friends who use drugs or alcohol, you
    are much more likely to use drugs and/or alcohol.
   The majority of our students feel that they have families that
    don’t want them to use drugs and care about them a lot.
   90 % of the 7th grade students say they will never use drugs.
   26% of 8th graders report that they have had alcohol in the
    past month.
 Passed out from drinking:
   23% of 12th graders         12% of 10th graders
   20% of 11th graders         5% of 9th graders

  Couldn’t remember what happened after drinking:
  • 31% of 12th graders       15% of 10th graders
  • 29% of 11th graders       13% of 9th graders

  Did something sexual when drinking and later regretted
    it:
   21% of 12th graders         12 % of 10th graders
   11% of 11th graders         5% of 9th graders

What does it look like?
RSDT
 Minimal cost: approximately
  1000 dollars for 10% of pool and
  2000 dollars for 20% of pool. (A
  neg. screen costs $18.00, a
  positive screen costs $43.00)
 Any school that receives federal
  education funding is permitted
  to use federal funds for drug
  testing. No Child Left Behind
  specifically authorizes the
  expenditure of federal education
  funds for student drug testing.
