Gratitude-----the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful:
We took a little road trip this last week. I took Yvonne my wife back to attend her 30 year
high school reunion. It was wonderful to be with her and experience this reconnecting
with people and family.
There were a few things I really got out of the event. Three words kept popping up in my
head, grateful, attitude and gratitude. These words kept coming at me thru events and
circumstances we experienced. Let me share with you how powerful these are and how
they can increase the quality of your life and destiny.
We went to my wife’s 30 year high school reunion. She was socializing and I was just
kind of hanging out. I watched people and they would stare at me trying figure out who I
was. I would say I did not go to school here or graduate. I am the spouse of Yvonne
Orossco, this being her maiden name. Over and over I did this. People began to tell me
their story since they graduated. I was shocked and thrown back how negative people are.
It was divorce and lost everything and unhappy over and over. Yvonne and I went back to
our room and thanked God and blessed God for the life we have. We felt so blessed and
fortunate to be in the position we are in. Serving God and living for God has made a huge
difference in the outcome of our life. We could have been like that.
Grateful is thankful, really thankful for all you have and who you are. God thank you! I
think we get so caught up that we stop taking the time to be grateful. If you look at your
life and don’t get out much, you think you are so low and lacking.
There were people that had more money and things than me. The quality of life was the
huge difference. The quality of living showed to be huge in our differences.
Henry Ward Beecher said, “A proud man is seldom a grateful man, for he never thinks he
gets as much as he deserves.”
Doris Lessing said, “A simple grateful thought turned heavenwards is the most perfect
I am so thankful to have my family and friends. We can get sidetracked and get into
ungrateful because we are taking inventory of what we don’t have. See what you do; see
what you have that is really valuable.
I met a man from Texas when we were in Redondo Beach. He had a huge company and
lots of money. He was spending and spending and yet as I talked with him and listened to
him he was so poor. I was looking at my wife and thanking God for her. Looking at her
and thinking of all the things we have gone thru together. We have weathered many a
storms and trials together. We are such a great team and best friends.
Ungrateful is seen when you stop being thankful even for the little things. We begin to
take them for granted.
(AMP) 46They shall be upon you for a sign [of warning to other nations] and for a
wonder, and upon your descendants forever. 47Because you did not serve the Lord your
God with joyfulness of [mind and] heart [in gratitude] for the abundance of all [with
which He had blessed you] 48Therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord
shall send against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and in want of all things; and
He will put a yoke of iron upon your neck until He has destroyed you.
In this chapter of Gods Word He gives us the power to choose between life and death and
blessings and curses. God wants to bless us to much. He wants us to have the greatest life
ever. He gives us the choice to choose what ever kind of life we want. He does not choose
it for us nor does he make us serve them.
He shows the benefits and circumstances we will create by our choices.
Yvonne got a call from some people who used to go to church here. We helped them to
create prosperity and increase in their life. They built this huge company. They shot up
and were making millions of dollars and then they began to slowly stop coming to
church, they stopped giving and tithing to church. They begin to find fault with the
people of the church. These are the warning signs of someone who is moving from
grateful to ungrateful. You move from appreciating to judging.
They forgot about all that God blessed them with. They had nothing before God really.
He blessed thier abilities and power to create prosperity. He blessed their marriage. Over
and over they kept moving away. I warned them, just as God warns us.
He does not warn us to control us, but to keep us in the flow of blessings. He wants to
keep blessing us. This couple lost it all. In time the huge business was gone, money gone,
all the million dollar houses gone, cars gone and they up and left, gone. I have seen this
happen on many people around the world.
I remember for myself it is all Gods and I am just a steward over it. It is not mine.
It all starts with in our heart. Grateful is thankful. God healed us, gave us position, gave
us respect, gave us life, gave us the ability to create business, gave us a mind to think and
He gave we will receive.
Israel when they were in bondage in Egypt they cried out to God to deliver them. He sent
Moses to lead them out the promise land. Freedom He gave them.
As they begin the journey of freedom they begin to complain about the journey, they
began to complain about the food, they begin to complain about the leadership of Moses,
they begin to complain about God and how he did not care.
Benjamin Franklin said, “Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools
Grateful or ungrateful is moved by your attitude towards something.
Attitude is the way you view something then the way you behave or your action or
position you take.
John Maxwell said, “Attitude is the speaker of our present, it is the prophet of our
Some one said it is all attitudes and the way you see things. The worm finds it more
relaxing to dig in the dirt than to go fishing, Attitude.
Israel when they were complaining all the time, God just set them free. They are free and
yet because of their attitude they enslaved themselves again. Complain about giving,
complaining about service, complaining about the spouse, over and over we here people
God set you free. Free to live in your Promise Land.
Grateful people with the right attitude lift people, they lift an organization. They lift up
the hurting. Ungrateful people with the wrong attitude tear down, destroy moral, create
division. This is someone who has forgotten they were set free and should be grateful.
Free people love and give and serve and don’t judge or complain. When you forget about
all that God has done for you, you begin to think it is all about me. We become like little
children. Mine, my, my time, my life, my money, my business, my comfort, my success.
Grateful + Attitude = Gratitude
I went to visit my brother who just had his first baby. He is so happy. They have their
own little apartment and she is a school teacher and my brother runs a makeup
manufacture in shipping and receiving. I looked at how happy they were. They were in
love and enjoying each other. I kept telling my brother how proud I was of him. I feel like
1 Kings 8:66
Amplified Bible (AMP) 66On the eighth day he sent the people away; they blessed the
king and went to their tents with greatest joy and gratitude for all the goodness the Lord
had shown to David His servant and Israel His people.
Follow the formula and get Gods results. Stop and make a grateful list of all the things
you are so grateful for. I is amazing how fast people can make a nasty list, but work at
