					                                                         Skill Sheet:
                                                         CPR: Adult

             Check            scene for safety and clues
                              Victim for LTC - consciousness without moving
                                 Shake & Shout then LLF
             Call            Send for help or call yourself
                             If no neck or back injuries are suspected, put victim in recovery
                             position BEFORE going to call 911 or designate a bystander to call 911
                             If in a public area, send someone to find an AED. Check for med alert tag
             Check breathing - WITHOUT moving LLF
                              If breathing, leave alone, but monitor until EMS
                              If can't tell, or they aren't then roll over toward rescuer
                               (support head/neck) then LLF again
             Airway           Head tilt/chin lift (maybe opens AW)
                              LLF
                              If HTCL opened AW, then maintain and monitor
             Breathing            If NOT breathing, Pinch nose and give 2 SLOW breaths
                              Watch chest for movement
                              Breaths don't go in - reposition head and 2 more breaths (watching)
                              Breaths still don't go in - Assume Airway Obstruction and
                                        Give appropriate care beginning with chest thrusts
                              If breaths DID go in, then
             Circulation      Leaving palm on forehead, check carotid artery with hand closest to
                             feet of victim and side of neck closest to you for 5-10 secs
                             If NO PULSE say
                                        "Victim not breathing, no pulse, beginning CPR"
             Severe Bleeding            Check for severe bleeding before beginning CPR
             CARE
                CPR          Begin with compressions after determining no pulse exists
                              Find hand position - hand closest to victims feet finds ribs/xiphoid process
                                   -heel of other hand is two fingers up from xiphoid.
                                    -Hand closest to victim's feet placed on top of this hand.
                                  -Arms straight, elbows locked and shoulders over elbows
                              Compress 1 1/2 - 2 " at rate of 30 compressions in 18 seconds
                                  compress smoothly and distinctly keeping hand on chest during
                                  compression cycle
                              Resume head tilt/chin lift, pinch nose and give two slow breaths, watching
                                 chest for movement
                              Reposition hands and resume compressions (30 in 18 seconds)
                              Repeat cycle of 30 compressions to 2 breats about three times
                              Recheck pulse after 1 minute at carotid artery and LLF for breathing
                              If no pulse, resume compressions checking pulse every few minutes
                                 thereafter
                              If pulse but no breathing, begin rescue breathing
                              If pulse and breathing, monitor and maintain AW until EMS arrives or
                              condition changes
                              If an AED is availble, stop CPR once machine is turned on and pads have
                              placed appropriately. Follow AED voice prompts.

                    Use child pads if available unless child is > 8 years old and/or
                          >55#'s in weight

                       (support head/neck)
        Airway        Head tilt/chin lift (maybe opens AW)
                      LLF

        Breathing     If NOT breathing, Put your mouth over the child's mouth and
                      give 2 SLOW breaths. Watch chest for movement
                      Breaths don't go in - reposition head and 2 breaths (watching)
                      Breaths still don't go in - Assume Airway Obstruction and
                                Give appropriate care beginning with Chest thrusts
                      If breaths DID go in, then
        Circulation   Leaving palm on forehead, check carotid artery with hand
                        closest to feet of victim for 5-10 secs
                        If NO PULSE say
                        "Victim not breathing, no pulse, beginning CPR"
        Severe Bleeding Check for severe bleeding before beginning CPR
        Care
        CPR             Begin with compressions after determining no pulse exists
                      Find hand position - hand closest to victim's feet finds notch at
                      ribs and follows up to xiphoid process. Drop index finger right
                      ABOVE this spot and rotate palm of hand around to midsternum
                      Compress 1-11/2" at rate of 30 compressions in 18 seconds
                      Do HTCL, cover mouth and give two slow breaths
                      Reposition hand and resume compressions (30 in 18 seconds)

                      Repeat cycle of 30 compressions to 2 breaths for about one

                          If no neck or back injuries are suspected, take infant with you to call 911
                          Do not put infant in recovery position
             Check breathing - WITHOUT moving
                            If breathing, leave alone, but monitor until EMS
                            If can't tell, or they aren't then roll over toward rescuer
                             (support head/neck)
             Airway         Head tilt/chin lift (maybe opens AW)
                            LLF
                            If HTCL opened AW, then maintain and monitor
             Breathing      If NOT breathing, Put your mouth over the infants nose and mouth and
                            give 2 SLOW puffs. Watch chest for movement
                            Breaths don't go in - reposition head and 2 more breaths (watching)
                            Breaths still don't go in - Assume Airway Obstruction and
                                      Give appropriate care beginning with Chest thrusts
                            If breaths DID go in, then
             Circulation    Leaving palm on forehead, check brachial artery with hand closest to
                         feet of victim for 5-10 secs
                         If NO PULSE say
                                    "Victim not breathing, no pulse, beginning CPR"
         Severe Bleeding            Check for severe bleeding before beginning CPR
         Care
         CPR             Begin with compressions after determining no pulse exists
                            Find hand position - hand closest to victim's feet finds nipples using
                            thumb and middle finger. Index finger finds mid point, rotate hand and
                             compress with index and middle finger
                            Compress 1/2"-1" at rate of 30 compressions in 18 seconds
                             compress smoothly and distinctly keeping fingers on chest during
                             compression cycle and palm of other hand remains on victim's forehead.
                            Maintain HT, cover mouth and nose and give two slow breaths
                            Reposition hand and resume compressions (30 in 18 seconds)
                            Repeat cycle of 30 compressions to 2 breaths for about one minute (about 3 cycles)
                            Recheck pulse at brachial artery and LLF for breathing
                            IF no pulse, resume compressions checking pulse every
                            few minutes thereafter
                            If pulse but no breathing, begin rescue breathing
                            If pulse and breathing, monitor and maintain AW until EMS arrives or
                            condition changes
                            Criteria for stopping care = ?
