                              Lec.1(Introduction)

HTMI is a language of web sites, we use this language to create and design websites.
HTML language stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. This language use some
tags to describe the web pages, there are two types of tags, start tag and closing tag.
To describe any thing in the web page we need to start a new tag, write the page
description and then close the tag.

The first step to make html page, open any writing program on the computer like
word or notepad, but first you have to save the file with the extension .html
As the following:
1- open notepad
2- Save the file with the extension . html
Then your file will appear as a web page. Like this:

It will open in a web browser, but of course the web will be empty, because we need
to write html tags in the not pad and save it, then the browser will translate these tags
into the page design.

To start a new web page we use the tag <html> and </html> to close. Between these
tags we put other tags as the body tag<body></body>, and between the body tags we
put other tags to describe the page.
As the following:

<html>
<body>

</body>
</html>

• The text between <html> and </html> describes the web page
• The text between <body> and </body> is the visible page content

When you write any thing between the body tags it appears on the web page, for
example if you write the following words in the HTML form:

<html>
<body>

Welcome to our site

</body>
</html>

Your page will be like that:

                               HERE
We can write the same words between two tags to give them some properties, for
example:

<html>

<body>

<h1>Welcome to our site</h1>

</body>

</html>

                                                HERE

* Note the difference between them.

We will know more about all these tags and their types in the next lectures.
