Human Body System Project – Option 1

           Pick a favorite activity
(cradling a lacrosse ball, playing the piano,
                  eating pasta)
                    -then-
Show how your favorite activity utilizes EIGHT
body systems and at least TWO senses.

(Nervous System must be one of the eight
systems chosen – for obvious reasons!)
Grade depends upon…

 Shows detailed understanding of the body
    systems chosen
 Functions of each system are addressed and
    applied to your particular activity
 Scientific vocabulary used and used correctly
 Creative and Neat product
 List of Resources Used
Possible Formats:
 Written interview with each body system
 Travel brochure through the body
     systems
 Newspaper with News Stories about
     each system during the activity
  Poster
  Essay

Human Body Systems - Challenge Option#1
Pick an athlete of your choice….(not Lance)
How does _____’s physiology give him/her an
             advantage over his/her competitors?

1. Identify aspects of physiology that give the advantage
(brainstorming with partner, logical reasoning, research, etc.)
2. Thoroughly explain the impact these attributes have on
high performance for that particular sport, event or
     position.
3. Include proof – statistics, expert opinions, etc.
4. Once you’ve done the research, break it down and
teach the rest of the class. Be ready to answer tough
questions from the class (probably a PowerPoint)
    Possible Athletes….
 Aurelio Rodriguez (Baseball)
 Ichiro Suzuki (Baseball)
 Tony Hawk (Skateboarding)
 Wayne Gretzky (Ice Hockey)
 Ryan/Casey Powell (Lacrosse)

            Very Challenging Option #2
You are a coach for _____________.
You must design a training/nutritional plan that would
lead to a high performing physiology for the
athlete’s particular sport, event or position.
1. Identify aspects of performance you need to target (endurance,
     speed, agility, muscle strength, etc.)
2. Explain how your training/nutritional plan will impact the
aspects you identified and allow for overall high performance
for that particular sport, event or position.
3. Really challenging additional option – a timeline for preparation
so athlete peaks for the big game or competition
4. Once you’ve done the research, break it down and teach the
rest of the class. Be ready to answer tough questions from the
     class (probably a PowerPoint)
