                                 Job Description

Title: Support Worker Home Maintenance - Casual

The Support Worker Home Maintenance will support consumers to remain living in their own
home through the provision of support services which promote independence. The support
worker home maintenance will provide home maintenance services that maintain and
improve safety of consumer’s homes and gardens in accordance with their support plan.

Responsible to:
The Support Worker Home Maintenance is directly responsible to their line manager –the
Senior Support Worker and reports regularly to the Service Manager. In the absence of the
Service Manager the Support Worker is responsible to the CEO.

Specific duties include;
 Encourage and support clients’ independence through Wellness Approach.
 Lawn mowing and whippersnippering.
 Weeding, pruning, sweeping paths and garden maintenance.
 Maintenance of garden tools and equipment.
 Perform minor home maintenance tasks as authorized except where the services of a
   qualified tradesperson are required.
 Collect and receipt monies.
 Work to roster and consumer’s support plan, including any changes.
 Follow OSH guidelines, act in accordance with duty of care, report hazards, near misses
   and maintenance requirements.
 Carry out and update OSH risk assessments in consumer’s own homes and gardens
 Attend training and support & supervision sessions as requested.
 Other duties as required by the Chief Executive Officer.

Skills and Experience:
 Skills and experience in garden maintenance and a range of handyperson tasks.
 A strong commitment to and/or experience working with the frail aged or younger people
   with disabilities.
 Ability to carry out Occupational Health and Safety risk assessments
 Ability to communicate effectively.
 Ability to work as part of a team.
 Ability to work unsupervised using efficient time management skills.
 Current "A" class drivers licence, use of suitable vehicle with a tow bar and ability to
   tow a company trailer.
 National Police Certificate within the last 12 months which you will need to renew every 3
 Cert 3 Horticulture is desirable.
 Senior First Aid certificate is desirable.

Salary and Conditions:

 As per Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award
Level 2-3 (plus an additional $1.50 above award payment that Community Home Care
elects to pay but which is subject to funding)

b)   Relief support worker $24.24 per hour.
c)   The option to salary package a component of the wage through a company Mastercard.
