Background

Lipids in the daily diet play an important role in regulating the metabolism of our human body. As such, they are very
important for human health. In this first annual congress of the Belgium Nutrition Society, four main topics related to lipids
in nutrition and health will be highlighted, i.e. their role in human metabolism, the presence of undesired lipid soluble
compounds in foods and their effect on human health, the role of lipids in food production and technology, and
recommendations of lipids for specific population groups.

Speakers and posters

For each of the four topics, a keynote speaker has been invited who will give a “state of the art” lecture related to his
research expertise. Also, for each topic, three young Belgian scientists will be selected on the basis of the submitted
abstracts to orally present their research work.

Programme

Session 1: Physiological role of lipids in human health

Session 2: Toxicological aspects of lipid soluble compounds in food and nutrition

Session 3: Role of lipids in food production and technology

Session 4: Lipid recommendations for specific population groups

The program will
 Pay attention to nutrition in developing countries
 Not include research on nutrition and arthrosclerosis since a separate session by the Belgian Lipid Club is devoted to
   this topic.

Registration

All participants need to register electronically at info@belgiannutritionsociety.be before April 16. The congress is free for
