How are you? Teacher: I am fine. Thank you. Puppet: What is this? Teacher: These are endangered birds. Lets see how these animals are alike. Whiteboard Vocabulary Teacher: (Teacher identifies item/answers the question and then List the four vocabulary introduces vocabulary words in context) words here: 1.birds Teacher: Let’s hear a story. 2.nests 3. United States We both are birds. We live in nests. We both are from the United States of 4. hatch from eggs America. Our babies hatch from eggs. The teacher says the word in context while drawing. She pauses and pulls hand away from the tablet. She pauses and says the target vocabulary word again. She pauses before starting on the next sentence. Teaching Context (Story Room) Who am I ? Story is presented as a Where do I live? rhythmic chant. What do I eat? Why am I endangered? How are we alike? Activity 1 The students will be given picture cards for the words below. The y will pick up See lesson plan 3 the appropriate card when they hear the target word and show it to their partner and repeat the target word in the target language. Activity 1 birds, nest, United States of America, hatching eggs Activity 2 See lesson plan 3 activity 2 Teacher will place large pictures (duplicated from picture cards from activity 1) on each corner of the room. Students will move to the correct picture when they hear one of the target phrases listed below. We both are birds. We live in nests. We both are from the United States of America.
