									The Board of Directors of Pendleton School District 16R met for a Special Board Meeting
(work session) at 8:00 a.m. on January 4, 2011 in the district office boardroom.

Present:     Michelle Monkman, Acting Chair
             Dave Krumbein
             Debbie McBee
             Bob Rosselle
             Steve Umbarger
             Jon Peterson, Superintendent
             Tricia Baker, Assistant Superintendent
             Michelle Jones, Director of Business Services
             Tami Calvert, Secretary

Absent:      Greg Galloway
             Chuck Jenson

Opening and Call to Order

Acting Chair Michelle Monkman called the special board meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board Appreciation Month

Superintendent Peterson announced that January is “School Board Recognition Month”.
Mr. Peterson thanked each board member for their countless hours of volunteering their
time and the willingness to make decisions in the best interest of the kids we pledge to
serve. He expressed that each board member is truly focused on all of our students.

School Board Listening Session Schedule

Superintendent Peterson reviewed the schedule of the board listening sessions. He
reminded the board that our goal is to have a minimum of four board members at each
session. Mr. Peterson explained that these listening sessions will give the general public
in our community an opportunity to speak to the board with their ideas involving the
shortfall for the 2011-12 budget.

OSBA Fall Conference Reports

Superintendent Peterson, Michelle Monkman, Dave Krumbein, and Steve Umbarger
shared reports from the Conference sessions they attended at the annual OSBA
Convention in December.

Committee Updates

PLC Committee
The PLC Committee will meet February 9, 2011. At this meeting they will review the
results of the staff survey.

Staff Evaluation Committee
The Staff Evaluation Committee will meet January 10, 2011.
Program Prioritization Committee
The Program Prioritization Committee will meet January 12, 2011.

Four-Day School Week
Michelle Jones reported that the committee is in the final stages of compiling data of any
cost savings to the district by changing to a four-day school week. The committee will
have a final meeting in January.

Review Agenda January 10, 2011 Regular Board Meeting

A draft agenda for the January 10, 2011 regular board meeting was reviewed. There were
no changes to the January 10, 2011 agenda.

The following are recommended agenda items for February 8, 2011 work session.

   1. Overview of Board Listening Sessions
   2. Budget Update
