Licensing of wheat varieties:

Successfully launched release and non-exclusive licensing of ORCF-101, a
CLEARFIELD* soft white winter wheat variety in 2003. In concert with Russ
Karow and Bill Hostetler, Greg Vollmer, and with input from an industry advisory
committee, led the development and implementation of an innovative licensing
and commercialization strategy. Responsible for drafting ‘Terms and Conditions’
and co-wrote Agreement used to implement a non-exclusive license for release
of the variety. In fall, 2003, fifteen seed licenses were executed with companies
in OR, WA, and ID. ORCF-102 was released through the same mechanism in
2005. Through fall, 2005, a total of 20 seed licenses have been issued to private
        seed companies.

The soft white winter wheat variety ORSS-1757 was released in 2005 through an
innovative exclusive licensing agreement with Mid-Columbia Producers. The
exclusive license, signed in June of 2005, will promote identity preserved
production and marketing of the variety and provide a mechanism for growers to
capture value from its superior milling and baking quality.
