SCHOOL RULES – “CHEAT SHEET”
Below are “highlights” from your student handbook. These rules must be followed during the entire school day in
all classrooms and between class changes.
The school day begins at 7:30 a.m. If you are on campus before 7:30, you MUST stay in the cafeteria until the 7:30
bell. The school day ends at 2:40 p.m. If you are on campus after 2:40, you MUST be in the classroom with a
teacher, with a coach, or in front of the school waiting for your ride home.
1. Dress Code – Shirt tails must be tucked in if the shirt falls below the belt line. Absolutely no head gear
(sunglasses, hats, do-rags) may be worn at all on campus during the regular school day. Skirts and shorts
must be of an appropriate length (below your fingertips when your hands are by your sides). No tank tops
or inappropriate logos on garments. Pajamas and bedroom shoes are not appropriate school attire. No
sagging pants!
2. Cell Phones/Other Electronics –Students will be allowed to use their cell phones during non-instructional
times (i.e.: their designated lunch time and between class changes). STUDENTS MAY USE THEIR CELL
PHONES DURING THESE APPROVED TIMES ONLY! If a student violates the policy, school personnel will
follow the same plan of discipline set forth by the Lenoir Co. Board of Education:
- Your phone will be taken by the teacher and brought to the office to be labeled and stored for
safekeeping.
- 1st Offense: Student will sign log sheet for returned phone after 2:40 on same
day.
- 2nd Offense: Parent must pick up phone and sign log sheet for returned phone after 2:40 (phone
will not be returned before 2:40 even if you leave school early).
- 3rd Offense: Phone will be kept in the office for two weeks and parent will pick up phone and sign
log sheet after the two-week period.
- If you allow someone else to use your phone, and they are in violation of the
phone policy, BOTH students’ names are recorded as an offender on our log
sheet.
Do not bring any other electronic devices (ipods, mp3 players, cameras, etc.) on campus unless instructed
to do so by a teacher.
Phones will not be returned to the student or parent until AFTER the 2:40 bell rings (even if you leave
early)!
3. Food – Students CANNOT have food from an outside vendor (you may bring lunch from home). All food
and drink must be consumed in the cafeteria—NOT in the classroom!
- Student Meal Prices: Breakfast: $1.25 (reduced - $.30)
Lunch: $2.00 (reduced - $.40)
4. Tardy Policy –Students arriving to school late for the 1st time that day should sign in at the office. Tardy
Procedures:
- Upon arrival, if you have a note from a doctor, dentist, or court, you will be allowed to go to class
with an “ADMIT TO CLASS” pass from the office. (Late less than 15 minutes is coded as a tardy,
more than 15 minutes is coded as an absence.) Absence or tardy will be coded “EXCUSED”.
- If you are late to class due to a late bus, nurse visit, or administrative visit, you will be given an
“ADMIT TO CLASS” pass and the tardy will not count against you).
- Students who sign in without a doctor, dentist, or court note will be given an “ADMIT TO ISS” pass
and will report to ISS until the end of the period. Absence will be coded “UNEXCUSED”.
The class “Tardiness to Class” procedure will be followed for all tardies.
NO STUDENTS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO ENTER A CLASS LATE WITHOUT A NOTE FROM THE OFFICE!
5. Early Release: Notes to leave school early must be brought to the office before or by
7:30 a.m. for verbal verification. In order for a student to leave in the middle of the class, he/she must have
a doctor, dentist, or court appointment card which will verify the appointment, or parent may have the
doctor/dentist FAX the school notification of the appointment. Students may leave school between class
changes with a note from the parent (which will be verified), and when the student returns, he/she should
bring the note from the doctor/dentist or court and turn in to the office.
Students will NOT be released early without verbal parental verification. All students leaving early MUST
sign out through the main office.
6. Returning from an Absence – ALL absence notes should be brought to the office within FIVE days with the
name of person, date of absence, reason for absence, telephone number for verification, and signature of
parent or legal guardian. Absence will be coded EXCUSED or UNEXCUSED by office personnel. Absences
with NO notes and notes not received within the allotted five days will automatically be coded
UNEXCUSED.
7. STUDENTS CANNOT RECEIVE CREDIT FOR A COURSE IF YOU MISS OVER SIX DAYS OF SCHOOL PER
SEMESTER! STUDENTS CANNOT MAKE UP TIME TO ERASE AN ABSENCE UNLESS THE ABSENCE IS
“EXCUSED”.
8. Instructional Fees - $7 (All grades) Senior Fees - $25 (seniors only) -

or anything blocked by the school server at any time on campus or you will be in violation of the Internet

class (Integrity—Cheating) Consequences for violation of the Honor Code:

one-page letter on “Integrity”.
12. Do not ask to leave a classroom for any reason until the end of the period unless it is
an emergency (sickness or an injury). If you are sick, please make the phone call from the office—not your
cell phone. Inform your teacher you are sick and get a note to report to the office. PLEASE BRING YOUR
BOOKS WITH YOU TO THE OFFICE!
