BGMC is implementing the PPID devices (Positive Patient Identification Device) on Dec 1st and
will start training all nursing staff (ICU, PCU, Medical, Surgical, Special Care Nursery) on October
26th. PPID is used for positive patient identification for medication administration and expected
compliance for all nursing staff in the above areas is 100% compliance. All staff working at
BGMC on and after Dec 1st will have to have PPID training prior to working.

Tele or ICU will need to sign up for one of the ‘Cerner Millennium-BGMC-
PPID(CareMobile/CareAdmin)’. This is a 4 hour class that will include training on both PPID
devices. We only have 4 Care Admin devices so classes are limited limit (ICU&PCU) to eight per
class.

Nurses that only work the medical or surgical units need ‘Cerner Millennium-BGMC-
PPID(CareMobile)’. They are welcome to sign up in the BLC or stop by for any of the open labs.

Please sign up in the Banner Learning Center using the keyword under search “Cerner
Millennium—BGMC”. Make sure that you attend the appropriate class for your specialty unit. If
unable to attend it is imperative that you sign into the BLC and cancel yourself within 48 hours
prior to the classes. If you are a NO SHOW for these classes it may result in disciplinary action
and loss of shifts.

Questions or problems getting registered for these classes please give me a call
