                             SWEET POTATO RECIPE CONTEST
                               Saturday, October 29, 2011
                                      12:00 noon
                            Greene County Recreation Complex

Entry form deadline is Monday, October 24, 2011 by 5:00 p.m. (turn in entry
forms only) at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Office, 229 Kingold Blvd.,
Suite E. Snow Hill, North Carolina. The contest will be held at the Greene County
Recreation Complex on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Please bring your sweet potato product along with 10 recipe cards on Saturday
for judging.

The Recipe Contest is part of the North Carolina Sweet Potato Festival, which will
be held Thursday, October 27, 2011 thru Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Greene
County Recreation Complex.

                  Sweet Potato Recipe Contest Rules


Entry Requirements: (1) Foods must be received by Saturday, October 29th by
10:00 a.m. at the Greene County Cooperative Extension Tent at the festival
fairgrounds (2) If contestants would like their food entries or dishes returned, they
would be responsible for picking them up immediately after the judging on
Saturday, October 29th. Any food entries not picked up immediately following the
contest will be discarded. Any dishes will be taken back to the Extension office. (3)
Please follow food safety rules. If food needs to be chilled, kept it cold or keep it hot
using a thermal bag. It is each contestant’s responsibility to provide adequate food
safety techniques. We will not be responsible for cooling and reheating, as we will
not have access to heating or cooling equipment at the park. For more information

Recipe Requirements: (1) Contestants can enter one recipe in each different
category. (2) Recipes must be typed or legibly printed on an 8 ½ x 11-inch paper
or index cards.

Recipes must include: Your name, recipe category, name of recipe, recipe
ingredients, cooking/preparing directions and number of servings. Please submit
10 recipe cards with recipes. All contestants will need to be present for the judging
of their recipe in case the judges may have any questions about the recipes.

Eligibility: (1) Contest open to anyone age 18 and older.

Judging: (1) Recipes will be judged on taste, originality, ease of preparation and
appearance. (2) Recipe judging committee will select winning recipes. (3) There
will be First, Second and Third place winners for each category. (4) Winners will be
announced on site after a brief break immediately following the judging. (5) Judging
will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greene County
Recreation Complex under the Cooperative Extension Tent.

Prizes: There will be prizes awarded in each category:
First Place: $20.00
Second Place: $10.00
Third Place: $5.00

Prize money will be awarded one week after contest.
Prize ribbons will be presented immediately after judging.
Pictures of prizewinners will be taken after the contest.
