of related international programmes, the environmental research community and the private
sector. These with a view to facilitate exchange of information on the latest developments in Data
Processing and Forecasting Systems, focusing on Ensemble Prediction Systems (EPS) and
Severe Weather Forecasting. It will also provide a forum for training and capacity-building,
particularly for participants from developing countries. The Conference Announcement is attached
for information in Annex 1.

A Conference Committee (CC), composed of five members headed by Ms Angele Simard

Abstracts, not exceeding half a page, should be submitted in English, French, Russian, or
Spanish. It would considerably ease the work of the CC and help to reduce costs, if the authors of
abstracts in French, Spanish or Russian languages could include an English translation of their
abstracts.

The completed form and abstracts should be sent to the WMO Secretariat by mail, fax or
via e-mail in ASCII, HTML or MS Word formats. Abstracts should be sent to the WMO Secretariat
by facsimile (41-22) 730-8021 or by electronic mail (mlaki_m@gateway.wmo.ch or
martellet_j@gateway.wmo.ch) not later than 1 May 2002. The authors of papers that have been
accepted will be notified in July 2002 and their full papers should be submitted to the Secretariat
not later than 1 October 2002.
