               Energy Scenario
• The average electricity consumption per
month varies from 18,000 to 25,000 kWh
depending on the capacity of the raw rice
mill for 12 hours of operation of the unit.

                                                8
               Possible Areas of
              Energy Conservation
• Installing variable frequency drives FD fan and ID fans
  etc
• Replace the husk blowers, bran blowers with new
  efficient blowers
• Replace the hullers and whiteners with new systems
• Replacement of canvas iron/aluminum buckets with
nylon and plastic buckets for elevators
• Replace single drive system with individual drive system
for all machines to reduce transmission losses.
 Replace inefficient design bucket elevators, paddy cleaners, graders
  etc.

                                                                         9
       Issues and concerns for
           Implementation
Financial Issues
• Involves high investment for technology
change of various equipments and low
  returns
• Lack of interest in investing in energy
  efficiency measures and more concentration
  on trading/ business activity

                                               10
Technical Issues

• Lack of awareness on technologies
  available in the market
• Absolute Rely on local equipment suppliers
and boilers are also locally fabricated
• Lack of awareness on energy saving either
  for the management or workers

                                               11
Other Issues

• The project proponents are interested in
  implementation of successful technologies
implemented in the cluster units or rice
  mills

                                              12
