13th International Conference on Nonequilibrium Carrier Dynamics in Semiconductors
To be published in a Special Issue of Semiconductor Science and Technology

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
Invited and contribute papers presented at the conference are to be considered for inclusion in a special
issue of Semiconductor Science and Technology. Each paper submitted for the proceedings will be
refereed to the usual standards of quality for the journal, taking into account the conference nature of the
submissions.
Please note that conference papers will be set in the usual journal style, and will NOT be printed from
authors’ camera-ready copy. Contributions should be as concise as possible and authors should note that
a strict page allowance of 5 pages max for invited and 3 pages max for oral/poster has been set for the
issue. An excess page charge of 50 euros per extra page will be payable if the maximum number of
pages is exceeded. Guidelines for estimating the number of pages are given on the submission form.

Final submission of revised manuscripts: Wednesday October 1st 2003

         be double spaced.
 List of references given in either the numerical or the Harvard (alphabetical) system
 List of captions for illustrations
 Set of copies of illustrations with lettering added
 In addition to the information provided in the guidelines, any authors considering including
colour figures in their manuscript should note that a charge of approximately 50 euros per extra
page over the maximum allowed will apply.
Please double-check that the electronic version in the floppy/ZIP disk is identical to the printed copies.

Submission procedure
Authors are requested to submit three publication-quality hard copies, of their manuscript together with a
floppy/ZIP disk (with a label identifying first author, title and acceptance code) containing the electronic
version of their manuscript to the Publications Desk, either during registration (on the evening of Sunday
July 27th) or on the morning of the first day of the conference (Monday July 28th). Tex/Latex, or
Microsoft Word files (see http://www.iop.org/journals/sst) are accepted. Due to the strict schedule that
must be followed in order to ensure timely publication of the proceedings, papers submitted after this
deadline will not be considered for publication. The manuscripts will be reviewed during the workshop
and will be returned, along with any comments of the referees, to the authors before the end of the
workshop. Any author not receiving back their manuscript by the end of the workshop should contact the
Guest Editor (Lino Reggiani lino.reggiani@unile.it ) before leaving Modena.
The submission form and assignment of copyright should be completed and enclosed with the original
manuscripts.

Final Manuscript Submission
Authors are requested to send two publication-quality hard copies of their revised manuscript to the
Guest Editor, to arrive no later than Wednesday October 1st. In addition, authors are also requested to
submit on a floppy/ZIP disk or as an email attachment to submission.hcis13@unimo.it an electronic
version of their revised manuscript. Further information on the acceptable file formats for electronic
submission can be found in the guidelines provided by the publishers
(www.iop.org/Journals/nfa/index.htm). The mailing address for submission of the hard-copies of the final
manuscripts is:

After being accepted for publication, proof prints of the manuscripts will be sent to the corresponding
author, usually by email in PDF format. Subsequent to submission of the final manuscripts, the
publishers will contact the authors directly in any matters related to publication and the ordering of
reprints. Those participants paying the full registration cost for the conference will, in due course, receive
a hardbound copy of the conference proceedings directly from the publishers.
Please refer to the publisher guidelines (www.iop.org/Journals/nfa/index.htm). Note, in particular the
point concerning the reproduction of material already published elsewhere.
In addition to the information provided in the guidelines, any authors considering including colour figures
in their manuscript should note that, because conventional full-colour printing remains an expensive
process, we must ask you (or your institution) to pay the additional costs incurred (i.e. the costs over and
above the cost of normal black-on-white reproduction) if you also require colour in the printed version of
your article. An estimate of the charges for your paper can be obtained from the Publishing Administrator
of the journal.
Please also supply electronic version of all your figures.
For further information about how to submit to Semiconductor Science and Technology, please consult
the journal homepage, http://www.iop.org/journals/sst and click on 'Authors'.
